Senior Data Analyst - Surveillance

As a Market Surveillance Analyst reporting to the Director of Compliance, you'll play a critical role in protecting market integrity by monitoring trading activity, investigating alerts, and supporting Ocean's clients with their compliance and surveillance obligations. You'll help ensure markets operate fairly while providing actionable insights to internal teams and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze trading activity and investigate real-time alerts to identify potentially abusive trading behavior and market anomalies.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive written reports and analyses for management and client review.
  • Partner with clients, legal teams, and internal stakeholders to address market surveillance inquiries and strengthen compliance programs.
  • Support audits, examinations, and regulatory technology projects that drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and maintain documentation that ensures effective surveillance practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in market surveillance, compliance, trading operations, or equities markets.
  • Strong understanding of equities markets, trading strategies, and regulatory obligations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Clear communicator with experience preparing professional reports and working collaboratively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with regulatory technology platforms or surveillance systems.
  • Familiarity with SEC regulations and compliance frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analytics tools.
  • FINRA Series 7 license preferred.
     

This position will be located in Philadelphia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
