Senior Data Analyst

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Senior Data Analyst is a key individual contributor responsible for delivering advanced analytics, reporting, and insights that support business and operational decision‑making. This role plays a hands‑on technical and analytical leadership role, partnering with stakeholders across the casualty and managed care business unit to translate complex data into actionable insight. The ideal candidate has deep experience working in cloud data platforms and business intelligence tools and is comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, data‑driven environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and optimize analytical datasets and data models in Snowflake to support robust reporting and advanced analysis.
  • Write complex and efficient SQL queries and leverage Python for data transformation, automation, validation, and advanced analytics.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, ensuring clarity, performance, and business relevance.
  • Use Hex to perform exploratory analysis, develop reproducible analytics workflows, and collaborate with other analysts and business stakeholders.
  • Partner with business leaders and subject‑matter experts to define analytical requirements, interpret results, and deliver insights that drive operational improvement
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through quality checks, documentation, and adherence to data governance standards.
  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource for junior analysts, promoting best practices in analytics, SQL, Python, and data visualization.
  • Present findings and recommendations to management and senior leadership in a clear, concise, and business‑focused manner.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).
  • Travels as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong hands‑on expertise with:

  • Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, analytics use cases)
  • SQL (advanced querying and transformations)
  • Python (data analysis and automation)
  • Power BI (semantic models, dashboards, and reporting)
  • Hex or similar modern analytics platforms
  • Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets in a cloud‑based analytics environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.

Education & Licensing

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or a related quantitative field.

Experience

  • Insurance experience a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related discipline, with progressively increasing responsibility.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of query and report writing

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Analytical and interpretive skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75,000 - $85,000/year.  A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
