Team mission
In this analytics role, you will be a key analytical partner to the Ranking team — the team that determines what millions of travelers see when they search and explore GetYourGuide. You will collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and product managers across the entire experimentation lifecycle, from hypothesis design and metric selection through rigorous statistical analysis to executive-ready recommendations.
A core part of your work will be developing and scaling the statistical methods the team relies on to evaluate ranking changes with confidence. You will also drive strategic analytical initiatives — such as long-term marketplace value modeling — that shape the future direction of the product. Beyond experimentation, you will be the bridge between ranking's technical complexity and the rest of the organization, translating how and why activities appear where they do into insights that product, supply, and teams across the company can act on. Ultimately, you will ensure the team is solving the right customer problems, advocate for the product to develop in the right direction, build the measurement frameworks to prove it, and create the shared understanding that enables the entire company to leverage ranking effectively.
Your mission
- Own the analytical problems that matter most for ranking — from experimentation methodology to marketplace modeling — and turn them into solutions that directly shape the team's roadmap.
- Deeply understand the methodological challenges of evaluating ranking, find rigorous solutions, and systematize them into the team's production workflows.
- Drive the strategic analytics — such as long-term value modeling and marketplace dynamics — that determine where ranking goes next.
- Make ranking understood and leveraged across the company, serving as a thought partner to product, supply, and leadership on how ranking can work for them.
- Champion hypothesis-driven development and rigorous evaluation as the standard for how the team and the broader organization make decisions.
Your toolkit
- 5+ years of experience in an analytics or data science role, interpreting data to drive business decisions.
- Strong statistical foundation: you have solid knowledge of advanced statistical methods (e.g. causal inference, difference-in-differences, regression analysis, propensity score matching, sequential testing, etc.) — and you've applied them in a business context where the consequences were real. You are clear on the assumptions behind your methods, know when they break down, and can spot a flawed approach from a conversation about it.
- Experience with experimentation at scale: you've worked with A/B tests, understand runtime estimation, and have opinions on when standard methods fall short. You've seen what can go wrong and know how to design around it.
- Production-grade coding in SQL and Python. You've owned code that runs in production — whether that's pipelines, an experimentation platform, BI tooling, or another data application.
- Experience working with data products or machine-learning-powered applications.
- Outstanding communicator: you write clearly, present confidently, and can align a room of opinionated engineers, PMs, and execs on the way forward. You can go deep into a technical discussion but also explain a complex system like ranking to someone without technical expertise — and have them walk away with a real understanding of it.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: this is not a ticket-taking role. You'll need to identify what matters, frame the problem, and drive it forward.
Extras that give you an edge
- Experience with ranking, search, or recommendation systems that drive meaningful revenue — especially in a marketplace context.
- You have built AI-powered products — whether consumer-facing, internal tools, or productivity workflows.
- Experience contributing to a software repository: you know what GitHub and CI/CD stand for, and the difference between pushing code to a branch and deploying it.
