The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for turning data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions. You will conduct full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities, and design.  The role involves ensuring data integrity, developing ETL processes, creating dashboards, and implementing automation solutions to optimize operations. This position also leads data innovation initiatives, reports key metrics to senior management, and builds analytics capability within the team through training and change management. 

Job Accountabilities:

1. Data Management & Quality Assurance 

  • Process, cleanse, and validate the integrity of data to ensure accuracy and reliability for analysis.

  • Assess data quality and perform necessary cleaning or removal of inaccurate, incomplete, or redundant data. 

  • Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to guarantee data consistency and integrity. 

  • Implement data warehousing solutions to support business intelligence and reporting needs. 

2. Data Analysis & Reporting 

  • Analyze structured and unstructured data using SQL, Python, MS Excel, and Power BI to generate actionable insights. 

  • Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations for management to support decision-making. 

  • Perform business risk analysis through customer and operational data mining and analytics. 

  • Experiment with data models and provide innovative solutions to complex data challenges. 

  • Lead data innovation initiatives by identifying emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance analytics capabilities. 

  • Prepare and present data-driven insights, KPIs, and performance metrics to senior management for strategic decision-making. 

 

3. Automation & Process Optimization 

  • Build attended and unattended Robotic Process Automations (RPAs) using Power Automate to streamline business processes. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver automated solutions. 

 

4. Capability Building & Change Management 

  • Develop and deliver training programs to upskill employees in data analysis tools and techniques, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. 

  • Champion sustainable change management by embedding analytics capabilities within the department and promoting continuous improvement. 

 

5. Leadership 

  • Act as Officer-in-Charge in the absence of the line manager, ensuring continuity of operations and decision-making. 

6. Compliance 

  • Ensure that all company policies, procedures, programs and instruction are carried out.  

  • Be familiar and understand Pru Life UK Compliance Standards. Must be fully aware of his/her responsibilities and competent to carry them out to the required standards. Must report all compliance matters openly and honestly to their Compliance Officer in accordance with the reporting requirements operated by the Compliance Officer. Must operate a process within his/her department to ensure that all relevant compliance matters are identified and reported. 

Job Specification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or related fields
  • Expert knowledge and practice (Level 3) of MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint) 
  • Knowledge and practice with minimal supervision (Level 2) in life insurance products, processes, and operations  
  • LOMA Certification Level 1 and LOMA Certification Associate Life Insurance Management (ALMI) is preferred but not required. 

Customer Communication skill 

  • Ability to communicate using positive language and etiquette, both oral and written, can mirror the language of the customer. 

  • Ability to write (memo, email, letter) in a clear, concise manner.  

  • Ability to assert company policies confidently and positively during negotiation. 

 

High Interpersonal skill  

  • Ability to get along with others while getting the job done. 

  • Ability to work well in a team and can communicate effectively with superior, colleagues and clients. 

 

Data Analysis and Insights 

  • Ability to present data cohesively that can lead to insights and decision-making. 

  • Ability to extract insights from data for recommendations and next action steps. 

  • Knowledge of reporting and visualization tools such as Business Objects, PowerBI and Tableau. 

  • Programming Skills – knowledge of database query languages like SQL and Python 

  • Solid understanding of data engineering practices, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts and familiarity with Azure data platforms. 

With at least seven (7) years’ work experience in a service-oriented industry with Data Analysis expertise. 

Preferably with a background in a financial / insurance company.
