Senior Credit Specialist Transaction Services Trade Sales

TS Trade supports international corporate clients in managing risk and optimizing working capital /liquidity across global value trade flows. This role sits at the heart of our efforts to position ING as a leading provider of Trade Finance, offering a diverse and impactful product suite that amongst others includes Supply Chain Finance, Receivables Finance and Traditional Trade solutions (Letters of Credit, Guarantees etc).

Your role

As a senior credit specialist within the TS Trade Sales organization, you will carry the primary responsibility for some of the key processes related to credit structuring and portfolio credit monitoring of our Trade solutions. This will include working on both the structuring of new trade transactions and well as working on annual reviews, covenant monitoring and regulatory reporting, to provide a comprehensive service for ING. Key responsibilities include cross-functional collaboration with credit and sector teams, to support client needs and drive scalable and compliant growth in Trade Solutions.

The product scope entails the wider Trade solutions such traditional trade products (bank guarantees, (stand-by) letters of credit) as well as different open account working capital products (receivables, supply chain as well as inventory linked finance). These products are focused on wholesale banking clients within the Transaction Services.

You will work closely with the TS Trade Sales front office teams, among others the Centre of Expertise in Amsterdam and Brussels as well as the local Trade Sales Account Management teams. The work will be fast-paced and multifaceted with a very international (global) scope.

The team
You will work closely with the TS Trade Sales front office teams with their Centre’s of Expertise in Brussels and Amsterdam and with the local TS Trade Sales and Trade Sales Account Management teams.

The position can either be Brussels or Amsterdam based.

Roles and responsibilities
In this role, you will own the critical credit structuring and portfolio oversight processes for Trade solutions with a primary focus on Working Capital.

Your main responsibilities will include

  • Prepare credit proposals and manage the credit approval process for each transaction, ensuring follow-up on post-approval conditions and covenants.
  • Ensure appropriate portfolio credit management through monitoring and annual reviews
  • Own the quarterly monitoring cycle, ensuring timely identification of early‑warning signals and adherence to covenants
  • Monitor portfolio concentrations, limits, and trends, proposing mitigating actions where required.
  • Identify, escalate, and actively manage emerging credit risks, including watch‑list and deteriorating exposures.
  • Support remediation strategies for higher‑risk or non‑performing exposures in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted credit risk partner to Sales, Product, and Relationship Management teams.
  • Provide clear and well‑reasoned risk opinions to credit committees and senior stakeholders
  • Participating in deal teams for new Trade clients in supporting the credit structuring
  • Ensure appropriate communication with all internal stakeholders
  • Identifying and acting upon process improvement opportunities.

The ideal candidate brings strong credit expertise combined with solid commercial and operational capabilities, and demonstrates the following skills and experience:

  • An academic degree in finance, accounting, economics, law or comparable
  • Well-developed credit skills as well as strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Committed and dedicated individual who will continuously improve the way the team works
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a deal-oriented and deadline-driven environment
  • At least 5 years of diversified and proven credit experience in (international) wholesale financial services
