Job Summary

The Senior Counsel will provide expert legal advice and guidance to the organization on a wide range of legal issues. The Senior Counsel will work closely with various departments, primarily Regulatory, to support business objectives. This role may involve drafting and negotiating contracts; drafting testimony, discovery requests and responses, pleadings, and briefs; managing legal risks; and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Senior Counsel may also represent the company in legal proceedings and meetings with external parties.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Represent Public Service Company of Oklahoma in proceedings before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on business initiatives.
  • Lead contract negotiations for major projects and provide strategic legal advice on business initiatives.
  • Oversee compliance programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from agencies such as the FERC and state public utility commissions.
  • Represent regulated subsidiaries in proceedings before federal or state regulatory agencies.
  • Manage litigation processes and coordinate with outside legal counsel on significant disputes.
  • Develop training and compliance programs for employees related to industry regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of legal strategies with business objectives.

What We're Looking For:

Senior Counsel Grade 10:

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited US law school

Experience:

  • 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department and in the electric utility or energy sector.

Senior Counsel Grade 11:

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited US law school

Experience:

  • 7+ years of legal experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department and in the electric utility or energy sector.

  • On-Site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Compensation Grade:

Compensation Range:

$136,539.00 - $208,565.50
