Position Summary
Primary focus will be to serve as a generalist and provide support on contract, litigation, employment, privacy, compliance, information security, insurance and intellectual property matters and to draft, review and negotiate a range of legal documents including, but not limited to, vendor contracts, real estate lease agreements, sponsorship agreements, event licenses, technology agreements, retail transactions, waivers and other agreements directed by the General Counsel of the Blank Family of Businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support Store Support Center (SSC) team with review and negotiation of legal documents and contracts.
- Review local, state and national laws related to business operations to anticipate, identify and manage legal exposure.
- Conduct legal research relating to laws, regulations, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials as requested.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection laws and regulations.
- Review advertising and marketing submissions for compliance with applicable governmental requirements.
- Where applicable, provide counsel for employment-related matters in partnership with outside counsel as needed.
- Serve as a day-to-day contact with PGATSS insurance brokers and carriers with respect to matters involving legal liability, including noticing of claims.
- Manage document repository to ensure compliance with appropriate laws and internal policies and procedures.
- Provide oversight of outside counsel.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school and an applicable state license to practice law.
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience at a law firm and/or in-house role with substantive training in either litigation, corporate, real estate, intellectual property or employment law.
- Ability to draft, review and negotiate legal documents and correspondence.
- Superior research and written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent proofreading ability and very strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated record of exhibiting strong business judgement.
- Ability and flexibility to work and appreciate the varying interests of key stakeholders and a demonstrated ability to build consensus among multiple internal and external constituents.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Interpersonal skills – listens to others, works well in a team environment.
- Can prioritize work activities and use time efficiently while producing high quality deliverables.
- Strong computer skills – including all Microsoft Office software programs.
- Prior in-house experience is a plus, but not required.
- Experience negotiating real estate leases highly preferred.
- Communication: Strong customer service skills. Candidates must possess good verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate cross-functionally.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously - prioritize and complete requests in an efficient manner. Attention to detail is a must. Ability to be flexible and respond to varied demands.
- Cultural: Self-directed; must be assertive and eager to contribute in an extremely fast-paced organization; must live by the Company’s Core Values.
- Adaptability: adapts to change in the work environment, manage competing demands and is able to handle frequent changes.
- Dependability: consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds to manager’s instructions.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Monday – Friday onsite, based out of the Roswell, GA Store Support Center.
- Flexibility to work extended and varied hours as needed including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time as the job is completed primarily at a desk each day. Variable desk heights are offered so alternatively sitting and/or standing at the desk is optional.
Travel:
- Less than 10% of travel is required (based on the needs of the business).
