Job Details:
The Senior Counsel - eDiscovery and Litigation Support will be the key leader in successfully developing the Law department’s eDiscovery Program of Excellence, lead the eDiscovery strategy for litigation and enforcement matters, manage Legal Hold processes and software, and the selection and implementation of eDiscovery and other software necessary for litigation purposes, as well as train and manage the team that will support the function. The following describes the responsibilities and requirements for the role.
Responsibilities:
Analysis of current state of the company’s eDiscovery Program and its process, systems, internal partners, staffing, and vendors.
Evaluate all potentially relevant company data applications (on- prem, cloud, third-party) and repositories including collaboration platforms, information systems and communication applications, including the company's proprietary communication software with respect to requirements for data preservation and discovery.
Recommend company appropriate policies, procedures, workflows and software/platforms in support of a company e- discovery program.
Manage the implementation of e-Discovery procedures, processes and software, and operation of software, to support the Law team.
Manage software for litigation holds and operation of software.
Design architecture of Litigation Support team, including defining roles and responsibilities for team members.
Implement Litigation Support function, including training and managing team to operate Legal Hold and eDiscovery software and provide litigation support to Law team.
Work collaboratively with the Litigation, Compliance, Privacy and other teams as appropriate on areas relevant to information governance.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A deep understanding of eDiscovery and the litigation support industry which is typically a result of at least 5 - 7 years in relevant positions with law firms, corporate legal departments, or eDiscovery service providers.
Proven leadership and staff development skills which help to motivate staff members and provide professional growth allowing them to assume additional responsibilities.
Demonstrated success in the management of multiple simultaneous projects.
Oral and written communication skills which provide a strong and confident executive presence.
Excellent customer relationship skills which include the ability to proactively manage customer expectations, recognize customer needs and adapt company capabilities to consistently meet customer requirements.
A solid understanding of database design and management, data processing activities and legal document review requirements.
Demonstrated ability in each of the following areas: ensure effective control of all aspects of a project from initial planning through final production; direct multiple project teams serving numerous clients while ensuring the completion of all work; oversee development of project plans; balance overall client requirements; and review financial and billing information in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are consistently met.
Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from ABA accredited school and licensed in at least 1 state.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or similar advanced degrees; and
A minimum of 7 years consulting, litigation support, or attorney experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or eDiscovery service provider.
