GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for executing key components of the corporate accounting and financial reporting processes. This role supports the monthly close, prepares journal entries and reconciliations, and contributes to the preparation of financial statements and audit deliverables.

This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who seeks opportunities to improve processes and enhance the quality of financial reporting.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Accounting and Monthly Close:

  • Prepare and post journal entries across corporate accounting areas, including SG&A, accruals, fixed assets, leases, and other assigned areas
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Support the monthly and quarterly close process, including variance analysis and account review

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external reporting needs
  • Support audit requests by preparing workpapers and responding to auditor inquiries

Technical Accounting:

  • Assist in researching and documenting accounting issues and transactions
  • Support implementation of new accounting standards and policies
  • Assist with accounting for acquisitions and other complex transactions as needed

Internal Controls:

  • Execute and document controls in support of financial reporting processes
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve controls and processes

Systems & Process Improvements:

  • Identify and support improvements in accounting processes and reporting efficiency
  • Assist with system enhancements, implementations, and testing efforts
  • Leverage tools and technology to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA or progress toward certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or corporate accounting
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERPs required; experience with AS400, Cognos / TM1, SQL and PowerBI considered a plus
  • Mergers and acquisitions accounting and financial reporting experience a plus
  • Experience with cloud-based financial reporting solutions (e.g., ActiveDisclosure, Workiva) a plus
  • Experience with lease accounting software (e.g., CoStar, LeaseAccelerator, Virtual Lease) a plus
