As far as telcos go, Belong is a blast to write for. The brand has a playful tone, the business champions great creative work and the in-house creative team needs a seasoned senior copywriter.

You’ll have strong conceptual abilities and the ability to write engaging copy for any channel. We need you to turn complicated jargon into something your mum could understand and come up with concepts that grab our customers’ attention while delivering the right message to them.

Maybe you’re an ad agency copywriter who’s sick of the five-to-nine grind. Maybe you’re an in-house copywriter who’d like to move house. Maybe you’re a glorious conceptual-copywriting-content-smashing-unicorn (I can dream). If any of this feels familiar, let’s chat. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Turning briefs into effective creative pieces that connect with customers and get the job done (usually encouraging people to stick with us or convincing them to give us a go).

  • Generating campaign concepts and rolling out copy across various mediums.

  • Maintaining Belong’s brand voice across all materials

  • Writing engaging and informative content that people want to read. You’re confident in doing your own research and chatting to internal experts to get the lowdown.

  • Playing nice with other creatives. We’re a tight-knit bunch who are gentle with constructive feedback and work together to make the work better. (Eye-rollers, prima donnas and pooh-poohers need not apply.)

  • Collaborating with other stakeholders – you’ll be supporting a bunch of different teams with diverse skill sets

  • Working autonomously and managing your time.

 

Must haves:

  • Strong folio of creative concepts and writing

  • 6-10 years working as a professional copywriter

  • Experience writing across all media. You’ll be comfortable writing long and short copy, scripts, eDMs, social posts, blog posts, packaging copy, landing pages and passive-aggressive office signs about cleaning the microwave.

  • Idea generation skills. You generate a variety of concepts for every brief. You’re always looking for new angles and fresh ways to express an existing campaign thought.

  • A customer-first mindset. You’ll approach briefs wearing our customers’ shoes and you’re curious about what makes people tick (…and read, and buy)

  • Clear, critical thinking skills. You cut through the noise and get to the heart of an issue. You’re a simplifier, not a complicator.

  • Obsession with keeping up to date with creative work, writing trends and what’s making waves in the world.

  • All the usuals – spectacular attention to detail, ability to juggle priorities and manage tight timelines, godlike proofreading skills.
