The role:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Creative, this role is responsible for managing all copy across all brand touch points for Molton Brown and enforcing TOV. Remit includes (but not limited to) core brand messages, product copy, marketing materials, press releases, campaigns, online copy, social posts as well as reviewing and approving third party copy. Management of the editorial team and knowledge of the luxury market and the cultural communities that talk to the product.

What you will do:

  • Help translate brand USP into a unique brand positioning, with social-by-design ownable talking points & content strategy, and a tone a voice driven by the obsession for the brand to show up in conversations, communities and culture, in a way that matter to the target consumers. Driving character, relevance and distinctiveness vs competitive set, to build engagement, cut-through and reappraisal of the brand towards increased consideration. 

  • Lead the team to write and review copy across all brand touch points. Ensures all copy adheres to brand identity/purpose, is flawless/relevant and meets the global needs of a complex global business.

  • Manage the editorial team in both their professional and personal growth development goals, driving motivation and excellence with clear objectives to support this. In particular, encourages an innovative mindset by looking into best in class brand copy/positioning that drive social engagement/cut-through across the luxury sector.

  • Work with the Senior Manager, Creative Operations to monitor workload and resource with a view to both short and long term planning to ensure that business needs are met. Open to innovative ways to deliver copy in its more iterative forms.

What you will need:

  • Degree education / equivalent with relevant writing and editing experience.
  • 5+ years proven experience of writing and editing compelling copy for a cross-platform luxury business (beauty sector a plus).

  • Prior experience of working alongside an Art director, to create brand messaging with social by design intentionality to drive engagement, cut-through and relatability, fostering communities, conversations and culture that matter to our targeted consumers.

  • Brand messaging to cover campaign assets off line and on line, as well as film storyboarding.

  • Strong editing skills.

  • Experience with tone of voice that gives character, presence and authenticity to a brand eg. a brand that speaks to not at.

  • Demonstrated curiosity to how social channels can enable different impersonations of the brand, how Tik Tok, IG..trends could become an inspiration to creatively think about campaigns, for the brand to show up in a distinctive, unexpected, yet relevant and topical way.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of copy optimisation with an SEO mindset for website in particular.

  • Team management experience.

  • Organisation and project management skills.

  • Proven willingness to improve ways of working and to drive efficiencies.
