Senior Coordinator, School Governance and Strategic Projects

  • Salary HEW 8 ($116,551 - $131,257 p.a.) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based at the Bundoora West campus, and the potential to work across other RMIT campuses as required.

Bring governance, planning and projects together and help shape the School Health and Biomedical Sciences’ priorities at scale. 

We’re looking for an experienced governance and projects coordinator who thrives in a complex environment, enjoys working with senior stakeholders, and can turn information into clear insights and enabling senior leaders to make decisions with measurable outcomes. You will lead one of the core administrative streams within the School Operations portfolio, driving governance, strategic planning, and high-impact initiatives that enable the delivery of the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences’ priorities.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, School Operations, you will lead a team that enables effective governance, coordination, and project delivery across the School Operations portfolio. You will oversee committee processes, submissions, actions, and reporting, while also supporting strategic projects and School-wide planning activities. You will bring strong judgement, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to working across diverse stakeholders (School Executive, School academic staff, College Operations and central University functions).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate School governance and committee processes, providing high‑quality secretariat support and ensuring alignment with College and University requirements.

  • Support delivery of strategic projects and planning activities, including executive planning, strategic papers, business cases, and School‑wide initiatives.

  • Coordinate Learning and Teaching activities, including program development and amendments, and act as a key liaison with College on L&T processes.

  • Facilitate effective coordination between the School and College, including oversight of governance-related surveys and associated engagement activities.

  • Oversee School communications and information management, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent messaging across channels.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing high-level administrative and executive support within a complex organisation, including coordinating governance processes, committees, and senior stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to coordinate and support projects and initiatives, including planning, tracking progress, managing timelines, and ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collate, interpret, and synthesise information from multiple sources and systems to support informed decision-making.

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing high-quality documentation, including reports, briefing papers, business cases, and presentations for senior audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience in using and managing corporate or university systems (e.g., student management, workflow/approval, and reporting systems), and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.

  • Highly developed organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Learning and Teaching processes (e.g., program development and amendments) and governance frameworks, including the ability to support compliance with policies, procedures, and approval workflows.

Qualifications:

A relevant postgraduate qualification or progress towards postgraduate qualification and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant education/training and expertise.

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic areas:

  • Clinical Sciences

  • Health Sciences

  • Medical Sciences. 

Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research across the disciplines of: Human Biosciences, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Digital Health, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physiotherapy and Psychology.
