Role Overview: You will be responsible of supporting development of control systems and strategies for the effective, efficient, and safe operation of power generators, integration to supervisory systems, e.g. interface/integration to SCADA, telemetry systems for remote monitoring and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Work within cross functional teams to ensure products are designed to required standards with respect to quality, functionality, reliability, manufacture, maintenance, safety, and environmental performance.

What you’ll do:

  • Represent the controls systems subject matter expert (SME) for Powergen Product function and the wider group.

  • Have technical responsibility for the specification, development and continuous improvement of the control systems and technologies that support Aggreko remote monitoring and diagnostic functions.

  • Define best engineering practice for the Controls discipline and requirements for compliance with relevant national and international standards and legislation.

  • Creation of technical specifications, functional design specifications and test procedures for control systems.

  • Hold the technical authority for the identification and provision of safety instrumented systems, including process development.

  • Ensure that controls systems are selected, engineered and packaged to meet diverse applications and environments, considering efficiency, reliability, maintainability, flexibility, and total costs of ownership.

  • Develop existing controls systems to achieve operating/manufacturing improvements and meet new market needs, including adapting products for different applications and business sectors.

  • Work closely with internal and external customers to arrive at engineering specifications that optimize the commercial potential of new and existing products, exploiting available technologies.

You’ll have the following skills and experience: 

  • Engineering degree, preferably Mechanical

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years professional experience as a Controls Engineer with Powergen industry-specific knowledge.

  • Excellent understanding of Product and application design within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment; Generator design standards and considerations; Generator control systems and applications; HMI and Codesys application development; Telemetry systems and configuration; NPD Processes and fast-track development programs.

  • Familiarity with industry-available control platforms (DSE, DI.ANE, Deif, Comap, Woodward, GAC, etc.) is advantageous.

  • In-depth and up-to-date understanding of control system technologies (telemetry, PLC, SCADA) with experience managing deployed solutions.

  • Experience in identification and design of Safety Instrumented Systems.
