What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Consultant of Controls Effectiveness at CIBC, you will play a key role in strengthening our control environment and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Your responsibilities will include developing and refining the control compliance framework, including processes and methodologies to support ongoing compliance, Mapping controls to relevant regulatory requirements and CIBC standards to ensure comprehensive coverage and alignment,

Evaluating controls appropriateness and efficiencies, and identifying areas for improvement, Supporting controls effectiveness and compliance in integration with control lifecycle management, Communicating and collaborating with teams and stakeholders across various regions to drive controls enhancement initiatives. You be doing reporting on control-based compliance progress and outcomes to senior management and other stakeholders.

How You'll Succeed

  • Risk and Control Knowledge: In-depth understanding of risk and control concepts relevant to technology, cybersecurity, business continuity and third party management.
  • Control Analysis Skills: Advanced ability to analyze control effectiveness and identify gap, supporting risk assessment.
  • Control Lifecycle Management: Strong knowledge in managing controls throughout their lifecycle, including design, implementation, monitoring, continuous improvement, and decommission.
  • Process Development: Proven ability to develop and enhance control management related frameworks and processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across regions.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Proficiency in preparing and presenting control-based compliance reports, with strong analytical skills.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify issues and develop actionable solutions for control enhancement.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate minimum 5 years of experience working in audit, risk or governance environment with extensive knowledge and experience working with business or technology controls, within the finance industry. You are a self-starter with strong organization skills.
