What Business Analysis contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Business Analysis serves as a liaison between the organization's businesses and IT systems development teams to align business strategies and capability needs and to ensure IT systems enable their desired value. This job family identifies and analyzes business needs, defines requirements and objectives, and makes recommendations for solutions using new and existing technologies. This job family researches and documents relationships between the components of the application system (i.e., end users, business processes, data, applications, and devices) and translates business requirements into application requirements.

Job Summary
The Senior Consultant, Business Analyst partners with business leaders and project teams to identify business needs and deliver Information Technology solutions. The Senior Consultant defines project scopes in order to efficiently deliver on the identified business cases and ensures that solution development, implementation and change management activities achieve desired business goals. Through business process improvements and activation of new capabilities, this job enables business units to achieve their operational and commercial objectives. Given the high degree of experience and knowledge required for the role, the Senior Consultant may lead discussions with senior leaders and serve as a solution owner on a project team.

Responsibilities

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions to elicit business needs, pain points, and goals.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive sponsors, product owners, and cross‑functional leaders.
  • Translate business strategies into clear problem statements, KPIs, and measurable success criteria.
  • Facilitate decision‑making, conflict resolution, and alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.

Business Analysis & Solution Design

  • Develop high‑quality BRDs, FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process documentation (e.g., SIPOC, RACI, swimlane diagrams).
  • Conduct current‑state (As‑Is) and future‑state (To‑Be) analysis, including gap analysis and impact assessments.
  • Define MVP scope, release plans, and non‑functional requirements (security, performance, compliance, supportability).
  • Partner with architects and engineers to shape solution options, evaluate trade‑offs, and de‑risk delivery.

Delivery & Governance

  • Serve as Product Owner / BA Lead for one or more workstreams; manage backlogs, prioritize scope, and refine user stories.
  • Drive Agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, demos, retros) or stage‑gate governance in hybrid/waterfall contexts.
  • Create traceability from business objectives to requirements, test cases, and operational metrics.
  • Support UAT, defect triage, and readiness activities; ensure smooth transition to operations.

Data & Process Excellence

  • Define and monitor KPIs/OKRs, perform root cause analysis, and recommend data‑driven improvements.
  • Construct reporting/analytics requirements, data definitions, and quality rules; partner with data teams on lineage and controls.
  • Lead process re‑engineering (Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce cycle time, error rates, and cost‑to‑serve.

Risk, Compliance & Change

  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and assumptions; maintain RAID logs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, GxP, DSCSA, PCI, GDPR) depending on industry.
  • Develop change‑management assets (communications, training plans, FAQs) and support adoption.

Practice & People Leadership

  • Mentor junior analysts; improve methods, templates, and best practices.
  • Contribute to proposals, estimates, and statements of work; support pre‑sales and solution shaping.
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation across the delivery lifecycle.

Location

  • Hybrid role
  • Ideal candidate will need to be able to work a hybrid schedule - coming into the Dublin, OH office several times a month.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • 8-12 years of experience in related field, preferred
  • Strong communication skills, ability to ask probing questions, lead cross-functional meetings and provide clear status reports to both technical and non-technical team members and executives

Anticipated salary range: $105,100-$135,090
