Red Hat

Senior Consultant, Ansible - FSI

Remote US NC Full time

The Red Hat Financial Services Consulting team is looking for a Senior Consultant specializing in Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) to join us. In this role, you’ll drive the adoption of Red Hat’s automation solutions at key accounts. You’ll engage both remotely and on-site to build trust with engineering, operations, and development teams by aligning their requirements with the real-world capabilities of our technologies.

This role requires in-depth hands-on experience with Ansible by Red Hat and a strong familiarity with tools such as Chef, Puppet, Salt, and other configuration management platforms. A solid grasp of modern DevOps practices and tooling is expected. This is a remote position with occasional travel to customer sites and can be based anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, ideally within proximity to a major airport. Candidates must reside in a state or province where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do:

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex Ansible automation solutions for Financial Services customers, translating business needs into scalable technical designs.

  • Provide expert guidance on effectively leveraging Ansible Automation Platform and related Red Hat offerings.

  • Architect resilient, secure, and reusable automation frameworks and playbooks.

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor—helping clients navigate strategic decisions and operational challenges tied to automation.

  • Facilitate discovery sessions, assessments, and workshops to uncover automation opportunities and shape delivery plans.

  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to a diverse range of audiences, including C-level stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders to ensure alignment, satisfaction, and delivery success.

  • Develop, test, and deploy robust Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections that cover use cases such as infrastructure automation, application deployment, compliance, and security orchestration.

  • Integrate Ansible with key enterprise platforms, including public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization stacks, networking infrastructure, and third-party tools.

  • Lead project execution, ensuring code quality, standards alignment, and timely delivery.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation issues across customer environments.

  • Mentor junior consultants and customer teams on automation best practices, GitOps workflows, and DevOps methodologies.

  • Contribute to Red Hat’s internal knowledge base by creating reusable assets, playbooks, and reference implementations.

  • Stay up-to-date on AAP advancements, automation ecosystem trends, and emerging enterprise use cases.

  • Expected to obtain and maintain at least two (2) active Red Hat certifications relevant to your role.

What you will bring:

  • Strong background in building and delivering automation-first solutions across enterprise environments, especially cloud and hybrid infrastructure.

  • Proven success implementing solutions from design through delivery as part of project teams.

  • Consulting experience, ideally within large-scale transformation or automation-focused initiatives.

  • Proficiency in scripting and infrastructure-as-code (Python, YAML, Bash).

  • Deep experience with automation tools, including Ansible (required), plus familiarity with tools like Puppet, Chef, Salt, and PowerShell.

  • Solid understanding of the business case for automation in complex IT environments.

  • Experience building or integrating CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains.

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms.

  • Working knowledge of security principles across infrastructure, OS, cloud, and hypervisors.

  • Comfort working across distributed teams and open-source ecosystems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to speak confidently with technical teams and executive leadership.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and evolving with industry best practices.

  • Prior experience in the Financial Services industry is a strong plus.
