About the Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Community Relations and Communications Advisor at our Huntly Mine for a 12-month secondment. This key role on the Huntly Leadership Team and regional External Affairs Team is responsible for planning and facilitating the interactions the location has with its internal and external stakeholders.
The Senior Community Relations and Communications Advisor’s primary role is to contribute to the mine’s long-term business strategy by designing, implementing and institutionalising best practice social performance and stakeholder engagement communications processes aimed at enhancing the location’s reputation ongoing license to operate and grow.
What you’ll be required to:
Manage the social performance and stakeholder engagement program including neighbour and community relations and the location’s social investment program.
Identify, monitor, and manage current and emerging social and reputational risks, in consultation with location and regional colleagues.
Support and deliver employee communication and engagement initiatives aimed at aiding in maintaining an informed and engaged workforce
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, state, and federal government stakeholders, in consultation with functional colleagues.
Promote positive community contributions, and respond to media inquiries in coordination with site and regional colleagues
Provide strategic advice to site and corporate leadership to ensure consistent, effective delivery of community messages, business objectives, and stakeholder engagement activities.
Monitor and report on performance, maintain stakeholder data, manage budgets, and deliver required reports in line with corporate frameworks.

What you can bring to the role
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or other relevant discipline coupled with proven experience in leading community investment, stakeholder engagement and communications activities, preferably in the mining or resources industry
Possess strong interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to make sound, practical, logical, and balanced judgements.
Highly motivated, self-directed, and strong team commitment
High level of strategic skills, an ability to influence outcomes, and be an effective communicator
Possess knowledge of the economic, industry, social, and environmental policy context and setting in which Alcoa operates in Australia.

About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
