Job Description:

Parsons are looking for a talented Senior Commercial Manager. In this role you will lead and oversee all commercial and contractual aspects of the project, ensuring effective cost management, contract administration, procurement, and financial reporting.

The role requires extensive experience in managing large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, strong leadership skills, and the ability to provide strategic direction to the commercial team. The Senior Commercial Manager will play a key role in ensuring the project is delivered within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with contractual obligations.

“What You’ll Be Doing”

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all commercial activities across the project.

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve project objectives and maximize value.

  • Review Contractor's and Client's Change requests.

  • Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts with contractors, suppliers, and consultants.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, including managing claims, variations, and disputes.

  • Provide expert advice on contract interpretation and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Lead the development and management of project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals.

  • Monitor project costs and implement robust cost control measures to prevent overruns.

  • Prepare detailed financial reports, forecasts, and cost analysis for senior management and stakeholders.

  • Manage procurement processes, including tendering, bid evaluations, and vendor selection.

  • Ensure procurement activities align with project requirements and organizational policies.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure optimal performance.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Develop contingency plans to address potential financial and contractual challenges.

  • Lead and mentor the commercial team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

  • Provide training and guidance to team members to enhance their skills and performance.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants, to ensure alignment on commercial matters.

  • Represent the project in commercial discussions and negotiations with stakeholders.

  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

  • Prepare and present comprehensive commercial reports to stakeholders and senior management.

“What Required Skills You’ll Bring”
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying

  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, MRICS, or equivalent) is required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial management within the infrastructure construction sector.

  • Extensive knowledge of contract law, procurement processes, and cost management principles.

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and delivering within budget and schedule.

  • Proficiency in project management software and financial tools.

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and resolve disputes effectively.
