The Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science at the University of Miami has s exciting full time opportunity for a Senior College Recruiter. As a key member of the Graduate Studies Office team, the Senior College Recruiter will implement strategic recruitment and engagement initiatives across a variety of platforms and events, with an emphasis on relationship-building, personalized communication, and data-driven decision-making to ensure the selection and attraction of the strongest possible candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute recruitment strategies to attract qualified, diverse applicants to the PhD, MS, MPS programs for all departments (atmospheric sciences, marine biology and ecology , environmental science and policy, marine geosciences, ocean sciences).
- Develop and maintain partnerships with undergraduate institutions, academic advisors, faculty, alumni, and professional organizations to expand the applicant pipeline.
- Coordinate closely with Rosenstiel School admissions, faculty, and career services to align messaging with program strengths, industry trends, and student outcomes.
- Coordinate with MPS Track Leaders and PhD/MS Graduate Program Directors to optimize their engagement in recruitment activities
- Collaborate with the Graduate Studies Office team, Graduate Program Directors, and MPS Track Leaders on strategy for continuous improvement.
- Work closely with internal teams, including HR, communications, and leadership, to ensure alignment of outreach efforts with organizational needs.
- Complete a yearly market analysis of competitor programs.
- Collaborate with the MPS marketing team to create engaging content for email campaigns, webinars, social media, and recruitment publications.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students, providing high-touch communication (including text messaging during regular business hours) and support throughout the recruitment and admissions cycle.
- Represent the Rosenstiel School and all graduate programs at in-person and virtual graduate school fairs, scientific conferences, university visits, and professional events (extensive travel required).
- Develop and manage on-campus recruitment events including campus tours, PhD Recruitment Weekend, and MPS Preview Weekend
- Track and analyze recruitment data using Slate CRM and other systems to evaluate recruitment effectiveness and optimize strategies.
- Manage the Slate admissions review process for faculty (including cross training) and work closely with admissions team members in the Graduate Studies Office.
- Manage the I-20 process for newly admitted students and work closely with International Admissions as well as International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) to support new international students.
- Work closely with graduate programs and the Rosenstiel webmaster to update Graduate Studies Office and graduate program webpages.
- Assist in the development of new graduate programs, including online programs.
- Participate in onboarding and orientation events for incoming students.
- Manage all recruitment travel logistics and credit card reconciliation in Workday.
- Supervise student employees supporting admissions and recruitment
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in marine science, environmental science, education, communications, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in recruitment, admissions, advising, outreach, or related fields.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse audiences including prospective students, parents, faculty, and alumni.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree (MPS or related field) or experience working in marine/environmental sciences or higher education.
- Familiarity with graduate-level STEM education and career pathways.
- Proficiency with CRM tools such as Slate, and virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Spanish or other language skills a plus, given the program’s international applicant pool.
