Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

We’re seeking a hands-on Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design and delivery of resilient, secure Linux-based cloud platforms on AWS. Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and govern cloud architectures for Linux workloads on AWS, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), automation pipelines, and Git-based CI/CD workflows to enable repeatable, auditable deployments.
  • Operate, scale, and optimize Amazon EKS clusters and containerized applications, including observability and incident response.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and cost efficiency across cloud platforms by applying best practices, guardrails, and monitoring.
  • Partner with the Basis team, RISE SAP stakeholders, platform engineering teams, and senior leadership to align cloud strategy with scientific and business requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years industry experience.
  • AWS: EC2, S3, FSx, EFS, RDS, EKS, AWS Transfer Family, Load Balancers, VPC, IAM, AWS Backup, Resource Groups & Tag Editor, Service Quotas, CloudWatch, CloudTrail
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, AWS CloudFormation
  • Configuration management & automation: Ansible, Bash scripting
  • Linux administration and server hardening
  • Cluster management: Red Hat PCS, SIOS
  • AD integration on Linux: SSSD, VASD tools (or equivalent)
  • Golden image management and patch set releases for regular OS patching
  • Disaster recovery & resilience: CloudEndure, AWS DRS (or equivalent)
  • Monitoring & observability: Dynatrace (or equivalent APM/monitoring tools)
  • Endpoint protection/EDR: CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor (or equivalent)
  • Vulnerability scanning & management: Qualys, Wiz (or equivalent)
  • Performance, scalability & cost optimization
  • Security, compliance & operational excellence
  • Strong experience with ticketing systems: ServiceNow (SNOW), Remedy, or similar ITSM tools
  • Leadership, communication & stakeholder management
  • BASIC SAP ecosystem knowledge

Preferred

  • Experience with additional cloud platforms and services.
  • Advanced certifications in AWS or related technologies.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading technical teams.
