Overall Job Purpose

We are seeking a “Cloud Developer” with the right blend Azure and database development skills, to support the development of operational activities behind a powerful Analytics team.

They will have the opportunity to put their technical, creativity, and problem-solving skills to regular use by continuously delivering changes, processes improvements, alongside tasks, projects, and activities.

Primary Key Responsibilities (Top 3-5 KRA)

The role is suitable for someone who is able to consistently deliver output; from urgent bug fixes, to longer term enhancements, someone who is capable of managing multiple asks and complete end-to-end development work on a sophisticated production system that is undergoing regular change.

They will flourish in a process-driven environment, is able to complete and manage various tasks, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, and ensure all processes are completed on a daily basis to a high standard.

They will also use their technical skills to improve processes, build new requirements to prescribed standards, amongst other responsibilities.

Outside of operational tasks, they will get to take part in projects, new enhancements and other cloud-based development work that would be beneficial to the team and wider department.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Knowledge & Skills (Must Have) :

• Excellent SQL skills
  • Understanding of relational databases and schemas
  • Creating stored procedures from scratch
  • Debugging production SQL errors
  • Identifying, testing, and promoting fixes to SQL scripts
• Microsoft Azure experience
  • Azure Data Factory (creating, running, troubleshooting pipelines)
  • Azure Data Lake
  • DevOps - Releases and pipelines
  • Desirable: Application Insights / Azure Dashboards
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organisational ability
• Experience developing code to a prescribed standard for peer review in London
• Communication with external stakeholders, and with engineers and end-users
• Self-starter, can operate independently without awaiting instructions
• Thrives working in a collaborative and team environment

Strongly desirable

• Microsoft SQL Server experience – bonus if DBA experience
• Prior engineering experience – working in DevOps and CI/CD
• JIRA ticket management
• IT competent
• Knowledge of financial instruments either through study or work
• Incident management (can take the lead for live system incidents)

Desirable but not necessary

• Good Python experience (familiar with pandas and pyodbc essential)
• JavaScript or other front end UI development, e.g. React

Experience:

• 7+ years of total experience in data/cloud
• Microsoft Azure experience (2+ year)
• Excellent SQL skills (4+ years Microsoft SQL Server full ETL experience, confident and independent)
• Knowledge of financial instruments (1+ years) either through study or work
• Good Excel skills (3+ years)
• Python experience desirable

• Graduate in any discipline
