Overview & Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Design, implement, and maintain Ebara Elliott Energy’s (EEE) global, hybrid Windows and Cloud infrastructure. This role bridges high-level architectural design with hands-on engineering to ensure a secure, scalable, and cost-optimized global environment.
BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field
10+ years of experience in systems engineering with a primary focus on cloud infrastructure, Azure, and virtualized environments.
Expert in Windows server management, operating systems, security, and performance optimization and related tools, including domain management, group policies, and security principles.
Expert in Windows endpoint management, deployment and client security.
Understanding of Azure/Entra integration and cloud-based Windows deployments.
Cloud & Virtualization:
Strong hands-on experience with VMware environments and migration strategies to Azure and AWS.
Proficiency in managing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) for high availability and remote performance.
In-depth knowledge of Azure and AWS services (VMs, Storage Accounts, File Shares, Backup, and Site Recovery).
Identity & Networking:
Experience with Hybrid Active Directory (AD) and Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure AD).
Solid understanding of network protocols, routing, load balancing, and security concepts.
Automation & Development:
Strong scripting and automation skills for system administration (PowerShell, VB Scripting, C++, or Java).
Compliance & Standards:
Knowledge of system/software quality assurance methodologies and applicable data privacy laws.
NATURE OF THE JOB
Designing, administering, securing, maintaining, supporting, mentoring, delivering, translating (requirements into design), recommending, and automating on a global scale.
This is primarily an Individual Contributor role and does not include any direct supervisory responsibilities or hiring authority.
Activities of the job are primarily covered by policies and precedents; however, the incumbent will often create new procedures or modify existing procedures to adapt them to novel situations.
Job has a high degree of new and unfamiliar content requiring incumbent to utilize logic and technical know-how.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
This role requires a balance of external partnership and internal cross-functional leadership. Externally, the individual serves as the primary liaison with vendors and suppliers to negotiate contracts, procure necessary hardware and software, and secure rapid technical support. Internally, they act as a central hub between executive leadership and technical teams, reporting progress to management while collaborating closely with network administrators, software engineers, and application developers to define architecture, enforce standards, and ensure seamless system operations.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
1. Architecture & Core Infrastructure
Design & Strategy: Create global blueprints for Windows Server environments, network topology, storage, and security policies.
Hybrid Management: Oversee on-prem Hyper-V and Active Directory integrated with Azure/Entra ID and AWS.
Endpoint Management: Utilize Intune for global device configuration and application deployment.
2. Cloud & Virtualization (Azure/AWS)
Resource Optimization: Manage VMs, Storage Accounts, and File Shares while implementing FinOps (Reserved Instances, auto-scaling) to control costs.
VDI & Remote Work: Configure and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to ensure high-performance remote access.
Modernization: Deploy and orchestrate lightweight applications using Containers (AKS / Azure Container Instances).
3. Security, Continuity & Automation
Governance & Compliance: Enforce security via MFA, Conditional Access, Azure Sentinel, and GDPR/HIPAA standards.
Business Continuity: Design resilient architectures using Availability Zones, Azure Site Recovery, and robust backup/DR testing.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate provisioning and management using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, or ARM templates.
