Job Summary

Ensures accountable decisions are taken at the right level in the organization, and individuals making decisions are suitably informed about the level of legal risk on all legal related matters in a position free of billable hours.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and resolving claims initiated under title insurance policies and products.
  • Interprets internal/external business environment
  • Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and legal representation of insured​
  • Negotiate settlements and claim resolutions with claimants, third parties and opposing counsel​
  • Manages personal caseload including handling matters involving fraud, forgery, missed liens, access issues, easement disputes and more.
  • Identify and posture resolved claims for recovery or salvage efforts​
  • Performs specialized assignments; solves complex problems and develops non-traditional solutions through sophisticated analytical thinking ​
  • Interprets internal/external business environment​
  • Recommends best practices to improve processes or services​
  • Impacts achievements of customer, operational, project or service objectives​
  • Individual contributor working independently; may require guidance in highly complex situations​
  • Occasional travel to and participation in mediations, settlement conferences, claim conferences, etc. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management​


Education

  • Juris Doctorate and licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction required


Experience

  • Typically requires 5+ years of related work experience
  • Proven record of strong cross-functional written & verbal communication skills
  • Past experience with professionally handling high stress situations and high volume workload
