As a Senior Production and Process Safety Engineer, you will serve as the primary Process Safety focal point, oversee production activities while driving process safety to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.

In this key role, you thrive in manufacturing environments where technical depth meets day‑to‑day impact. You apply problem‑solving skills and plant know‑how to optimize operations, resolve issues quickly, and enable safe, efficient, low‑cost production of quality products. You collaborate closely with operations and subject matter experts, leverage automation and proven technology standards, and maintain a strong field presence to reinforce safe, disciplined execution.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operations at INEOS to troubleshoot and optimize daily plant performance.

  • Own the plant’s LOPA and collaborate with business and regional Process Safety Technology Leaders to implement safety improvements.

  • Apply plant and technology knowledge and data to resolve issues quickly and improve productivity.

  • Leverage defined technology standards and process automation to drive safe, efficient production and challenge assumptions when better solutions emerge.

  • Lead and document root‑cause analysis for asset utilization losses; implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Maintain strong field presence; reinforce operating discipline and critical procedure steps.

  • Monitor KPIs, trends, logs, and alarm history daily to identify improvement opportunities and sustain engagement with plant activities.

  • Drive raw-material efficiency (yield improvement, waste reduction) and ensure compliance with operating permits.

Qualifications

  • A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or Materials/Metallurgical Engineering.

  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing and/or process safety within the chemical industry.

  • Proficiency in English.

  • Additional language skills in Dutch are preferred.

  • Process Safety Expertise: Hazard assessment tools, management systems, and technology to protect people, property, and environment

  • Technical & Automation Skills: Distributed Control System (DIS) configuration, Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design/maintenance, process automation networks, cybersecurity awareness, MES implementation, simulation tools

  • Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge: EH&S standards, local/global compliance for chemical processes, security vulnerability assessments

  • Analytical & Problem‑Solving: Data‑driven decision‑making, FMEA, statistical analysis for process safety performance

  • Communication & Teamwork: Ability to partner with Operations, our Technical Expertise & Support Experts, Technology Centers, and EH&S leaders; strong organizational and advocacy skills

  • Critical Thinking: Evaluate facts and apply rational, data‑based analysis

Additional Notes

  • Additional role: Process safety focal point for the plant (50% of time).

  • Since on-site presence is essential, we encourage applicants who are located near Antwerp.
