At AIG, we are reimagining the way we help customers to manage risk. We are seeking an experienced Casualty Underwriter to join our Major Accounts team, underwriting large corporate accounts across a diverse range of industries, including construction, energy and mining.
You will work on some of the largest organisations operating in Australia and globally, partnering with major brokerages to structure liability programmed for complex business.
This role focusses on large corporate risks across the general business including mining, energy and construction sectors, working with major multinational clients and leading brokerages. These organisations represent some of the largest industrial businesses operating in Australia and internationally.
This is a senior technical underwriting role, requiring strong experience in complex casualty placements, broker engagement and portfolio management.

How you will create an impact
As a Senior Underwriter at AIG, you will assess and underwrite risks for large corporate clients, structure liability programs and work closely with brokers and internal stakeholder to deliver solutions for complex organisations.
You will contribute to the continued growth of our Casualty portfolio, underwriting businesses across a broad range of industries including infrastructure, construction, mining, energy and manufacturing. This role provides exposure to large and multinational insured’s requiring strong technical underwriting capability and commercial judgement.
As a Senior Casualty Underwriter your key accountabilities include, but not limited to:
Underwrite large corporate casualty accounts, including complex liability programs
Partner with key brokerages to structure insurance solutions for high-revenue corporate clients and multinational organisations.
Analyse complex operational exposures and apply sound underwriting judgment when assessing risk and pricing.
Attend client and broker meetings to develop a strong understanding of risk management frameworks and operational exposures, presenting tailored insurance solutions.
Manage and retain an existing portfolio while contributing to growth of new corporate business, maintaining strong underwriting discipline within delegated authority.
Achieve agreed production targets, executing strategic marketing initiatives and strengthening broker relationships.
Increase AIG market share within the Casualty segment through the strengthening of relationships with key brokers, clients and industry groups.
Contribute to strategies to grow profitable business within target sectors, working with other profit centres to identify cross selling opportunities.
Monitor and report on portfolio performance including production, retention, new business, loss ratio, claims activity.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including actuarial, legal, claims, finance and operations to support underwriting standards and portfolio performance.
Maintain open communication with Segment Managers and other underwriting leaders regarding market developments and portfolio activity.
What you’ll need to succeed
Casualty Underwriting experience in the corporate or large commercial segment across a broad range of products including Primary Casualty, Excess/Umbrella
Experience in complex liability risks or larger revenue organisations
Strong understanding of Primary Casualty, Excess and Umbrella structures
Ability to engage confidently with senior broker partners and corporate clients
Commercial underwriting judgement and ability to analyse complex business operations
Experience in sectors such as energy, construction, infrastructure or heavy industry is advantageous
