Salary range (but not limited to):

118,700 - 145,100

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

The Senior Casualty Claims Consultant – National Large Loss provides expertise in the casualty claims line of business.  The Senior Casualty Claims Consultant – National Large Loss adjusts and administers Intact’s largest and most complex casualty claims through technical excellence and plays a key role in the development of key technical talent. The incumbent will have an opportunity to play a significant role in the support of casualty claims through large loss handling, mentoring, advice to management, quality assurance activities, providing assistance in the training of claims professionals and other special projects.

 

This opportunity can be based in any of the following locations: Montreal, Québec, Laval, St-Hyachinte in a hybrid mode.

 

What you’ll do here:

 

  • Direct handle and mentor on large, complex claims Quebec and out-of-province files, including technical guidance and advice to staff, assessment of exposure and assists with the interpretation of case law.

  • Act as a technical resource for all stakeholders including senior management, underwriting and finance.

  • Represent company at mediation, arbitration, trial and other litigation processes.

  • Provides Casualty expertise to assist the National Large Loss team in improving company guidelines and programs to effectively manage loss costs and expenses and for consistent application of claims settlement policies and procedures.

  • Engages in special projects to improve both processes and personnel to better serve customers, solve systemic problems and meet company goals.

  • Participates in the development of technical casualty claims training programs by assessing needs, developing content and making recommendations.

 

 What you bring to the table:

  • A claims adjuster's certificate (5A) from the Autorité des marchés financiers.

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.

  • College degree in Insurance / Bachelor of Laws (an asset).

  • CIP Designation (an asset)

  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience with casualty claims.

  • Proven technical expert in casualty claims. Extensive experience in coverage analysis, investigation, and quantum evaluation. Experience in class action claims, severe losses, an asset. Expertise in handling out-of-province claims (Auto-US), an asset.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Detail oriented and focussed on results.

  • Flexible with the ability to work in a constantly changing environment.

  • Bilingualism (French / English) – Need to process claims files from an French-speaking clientele on a regular basis and to process claims outside the province.

  • There will be some travel involved in this position.
