We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Buyer – Indirect Procurement to support Lumentum’s global manufacturing environment. This role manages indirect purchasing activities across multiple categories—including engineering services, MRO items, tooling, fixtures, facilities-related spend, and general indirect materials. The Senior Buyer ensures timely availability of goods and services, drives supplier performance, and contributes to cost, quality, and operational excellence. Collaboration with Engineering, Facilities, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Global Commodity teams is essential for success.
Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end procurement of indirect materials and services such as MRO supplies, engineering/facility services, tooling, test equipment, and general indirect categories.
Review MRP requirements where applicable, forecast demand to suppliers, obtain supplier commitments, and maintain optimal indirect inventory levels.
Execute purchase requests by creating POs, monitoring delivery status, and resolving transactional issues with local and international suppliers.
Lead RFQ activities, perform cost and service evaluations, and negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and contract conditions for indirect categories.
Partner with Engineering, Facilities, Operations, Program Management, and Global Procurement to support NPIs, equipment installations, facility upgrades, and production readiness.
Support procurement of fixtures, jigs, calibration services, and equipment-related items required for manufacturing and engineering operations.
Monitor supplier performance—delivery reliability, responsiveness, service quality—and provide structured feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Resolve shortages, delays, over-shipments, invoice discrepancies, and service issues; ensure timely communication and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate procurement master data (pricing, MOQ, lead time, item attributes) to support effective planning and compliance.
Drive cost-reduction initiatives, supplier consolidation, category optimization, and spend management efforts aligned with global commodity plans.
Collaborate with IQA, SQE, Engineering, and service providers to resolve quality issues and support disposition of rejected or obsolete items.
Ensure adherence to Lumentum’s procurement policies, compliance standards, and operational governance.
Support internal audits, reporting activities, and procurement analytics using Oracle and Excel.
Perform additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in Indirect Procurement, Purchasing, or Supply Chain roles in high-tech or manufacturing environments.
Strong experience across indirect categories (MRO, engineering services, facility services, tooling, consumables, CapEx support).
Hands-on knowledge of MRP systems; Oracle experience is mandatory (PO creation, reporting, root-cause analysis).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data manipulation, reporting), PowerPoint, and Agile PLM (preferred).
Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to manage commercial terms, supplier relationships, and service agreements.
Excellent communication, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage supply risks, delivery issues, and service escalations.
Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, global manufacturing environment.
