This is a hybrid roleAt Bluevine, we pride ourselves on our collaborative culture, which we believe is best maintained through in-person interactions and a vibrant office environment. All of our offices have reopened in accordance with local guidelines, and are following a hybrid model. In-office days will be determined by location and discipline.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As our Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining a robust data infrastructure that empowers data-driven decision-making across our organization. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product teams, data engineers, data scientists, and our leadership team to translate business needs into actionable data solutions. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Data Infrastructure

  • Design and develop data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
  • Experience with event-driven data structures to create aggregated data layer for analysis and reporting
  • Triage and optimize data reporting ETL via collaboration with data analysts and engineers to build long-term implementations

Data Management

  • Adhere to data quality, data governance, coding, and SDLC standards
  • Adhere to the best practices in development, testing, deployment, and operations policies, procedures, and guidelines while effectively contributing to the further refinement of those guidelines.

Data Strategy

  • Partner with business leaders to understand the broader data needs to translate them into a comprehensive data strategy aligned with Bluevine’s OKRs
  • Identify new data sources proactively and opportunities to leverage data for competitive advantage
  • Contribute to continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the data strategy and propose adjustments as needed to optimize data utilization and business impact

Data Visualization

  • Write complex SQLs, profile the large data set, and provide insights with rich visualizations to answer some of the most important questions in our business
  • Create and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate key metrics and insights to stakeholders
  • Develop the BI framework to democratize the data and enable self-service analytics across the organization
  • Design and implement advanced analytics solutions using machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, and data analysis algorithms to uncover hidden insights and predict future trends.
  • Develop new Tableau dashboards as needed, plus ensure existing dashboards are optimized
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging trends in augmented BI, big data, and advanced analytics, constantly evaluating and implementing new technologies to enhance our data capabilities.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

  • Have 6+ hands-on experience developing and supporting a modern data infrastructure, including cloud data warehouses such as AWS Redshift and Postgres, BI tools such as Tableau and Metabase, and data orchestration platforms such as Airflow
  • Highly proficient in SQL, with a focus on data warehousing best practices
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural and fast-paced complex environment where priorities change frequently
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects  
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Tableau
  • Good to have: Experience using AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., Github Copilot) to accelerate engineering workflows such as SQL authoring/optimization, data model tuning, ETL debugging, documentation, and test case generation for data quality checks.
