The Role

The Research Digital Systems (RDS) team holds the responsibility for the complex laboratory application landscape, which is used by over 800 Genmab researchers. Besides managing the many users' tickets, the RDS team is also responsible for development of the digital research landscape, as well as development and enhancements of the systems in the landscape, in collaboration with vendors and contractors. To manage this diversity of activities in the complex and diverse landscape, strong technical leadership with hands-on technical knowledge to ensure delivering business continuity, satisfied users and system developments. This role provides end-to-end ownership of key systems, with a focus on deep technical developments, problem-solving, and the coordination skills needed to keep platforms and teams aligned and operating effectively. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for laboratory software applications, in close collaboration with users and IT stakeholders. 
  • Experience with LabVantage LIMS required, including hands-on configuration/development expertise; furthermore, experience with Genedata, Waters, Zontal, Environmental Monitoring Systems and/or Equipment Booking Systems is regarded as an advantage.
  • Budget spend responsible for these applications, including license management, realization of developments and roadmap progressions as required by business and shared by vendors.
  • Ensure validated state and continuous compliance of both GxP and non-GxP systems through system lifecycle activities, applying a risk-based approach, and be the systems SME during audits.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot backend components of lab applications, including databases, file storage integrations, Cloud connectivity, Linux, Windows-based services, and scheduled jobs. 
  • Ensure prioritization and correct & timely resolution of service tickets for user- and technical support, supported Research Digital Systems team members. 
  • Responsible for system developments, enhancement and change requests, working closely with users, business leaders, software vendors, and other (IT) stakeholders. 
  • Monitor and support interface connections between lab applications and enterprise IT systems (including AD authentication, file transfer protocols (e.g. SFTP), and API-based data exchanges) 
  • Collaborate with internal IT infrastructure and security teams to ensure application environments meet cybersecurity and performance requirements and act as technical liaison during related incidents, investigations, and audits. 
  • Ensure backup and restore and disaster recovery procedures are in place and tested, aligned with business continuity requirements and company policy. 
  • Optimize workflows by proposing and implementing automation and scripting solutions (e.g. scheduled tasks, PowerShell). 
  • Support software upgrade projects and backend migrations, including database versioning, license management, and patch coordination. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve digital integration and data availability across the research organization. 

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical/biotech field (e.g., Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computer Science).  
  • 8+ years of experience in biotech/pharma or laboratory IT, including supporting GxP regulated environments. 
  • Excellent soft skills to seamlessly work together with various stakeholder teams within the business and IT, to ensure all parties are aligned on the functioning and development direction of the applications under your supervision. 
  • Strong experience with system administration, application support, and IT infrastructure concepts (e.g., networking, database management, Windows Server environments). 
  • Experience with computerized systems validation (CSV), GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. 
  • Hands-on experience with managing enterprise lab systems and/or electronic lab notebooks (ELN); experience with LabVantage is a prerequisite. 
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, AWS services, Linux, Docker, Windows Services, SQL-based databases, and interfacing technologies (e.g. REST APIs, ODBC). 
  • Experience with automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and integration of lab systems with backend services is a strong plus. 
  • Proficiency with Power BI for reporting and dashboard creation is a strong plus.
