Role Summary

The Vice President, Business Analyst is a leadership role within State Street Investment Management responsible for defining, shaping, and delivering complex business analysis outcomes across strategic initiatives and enterprise platforms. Operating at the intersection of business, product, and technology, this role operates within a globally distributed team, providing clarity, structure, and analytical rigor to ensure solutions deliver sustainable business and client value.

The VP Business Analyst guides and reinforces adoption of modern business analysis practices, including the responsible use of AI to enhance insight generation, decision quality, and delivery predictability, while maintaining clear accountability and risk awareness as part of the Client Pathways initiative

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business, product, and technology leaders by framing complex problems, defining solution options, and supporting informed decision‑making.
  • Lead a team of Business Analysts locally, providing direction and guidance across business priorities, aligning within the global Business Analyst team.
  • Translate ambiguous or competing priorities into clear, actionable business requirements and decision frameworks.
  • Influence strategic initiatives by grounding recommendations in data, client needs, operational realities, and platform capabilities.
  • Lead engagement across complex stakeholder groups to ensure shared understanding of objectives, scope, risks, and outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with executive, business, and technical audiences, tailoring messaging as appropriate.
  • Provide coaching and oversight to Business Analysts and Business Systems Analysts, reinforcing expectations for quality, accountability, and professional judgment.
  • Provide oversight of business analysis deliverables across large programs to ensure alignment with delivery milestones and strategic priorities.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate delivery risks related to scope, data, integration, or downstream impacts.
  • Partner with Project and Product leadership to manage scope changes, feasibility assessments, and delivery trade‑offs.
  • Maintain strong understanding of systems, data, and architectural constraints to guide practical, scalable solution design.
  • Ensure solutions prioritize reuse, sustainability, and long‑term value rather than bespoke or short‑term fixes.
  • Champion responsible adoption of AI within business analysis activities to improve efficiency, insight synthesis, and documentation quality.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and recommend opportunities to strengthen analysis and decision support.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Masters (3+) or Bachelors (7+) years’ experience in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in Business Analysis or Business Systems Analysis within complex, regulated financial service environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership across large programs and platforms.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, data concepts, and system architectures.
  • Proven ability to operate and communicate effectively at both strategic and execution levels.

Risk & Control Accountabilities

  • Act in accordance with State Street’s Risk Excellence and control frameworks.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate risk, compliance, and control issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure analysis practices and deliverables align with internal policies, regulatory expectations, and audit standards.
