ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description
The IS Business Analyst will play a critical role within the R&D Precision Medicine technology ecosystem at Amgen. This role blends product management, product development, and delivery leadership, acting as a key liaison between business stakeholders, product owners, engineering teams, and platform teams.
The role is responsible for understanding business and scientific requirements, translating them into clear product artifacts, and thinking through end-to-end solutions that align with Amgen’s strategic roadmap. The individual will apply design thinking principles to define problems, explore solution options, and deliver value iteratively using Agile practices.
This position requires strong stakeholder management, the ability to author high-quality product artifacts (e.g., product requirements, user stories, functional specifications, roadmaps), and the capability to articulate solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. The role also partners closely with delivery and Agile teams to ensure execution excellence while maintaining a strong product mindset.
Roles & Responsibilities
Product & Solution Ownership
Lead product discovery and requirement definition through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and design thinking exercises
Translate business, scientific, and operational needs into clear, actionable product requirements and solution designs
Own and maintain product artifacts including vision documents, roadmaps, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release plans
Think through complex problems and articulate scalable, sustainable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and data strategies
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Manage and engage stakeholders across R&D, Precision Medicine, IT, Data Science, and business functions
Facilitate requirement-gathering sessions, design reviews, and solution walkthroughs
Clearly communicate trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines
Act as a trusted partner to Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and Engineering leads
Product Development & Agile Delivery
Collaborate with Agile teams to refine backlog items and ensure readiness for development
Support Agile ceremonies (planning, refinement, reviews) with a strong product lens
Ensure requirements are well-defined, testable, and aligned with user and business outcomes
Monitor delivery progress and help resolve ambiguities, dependencies, and blockers
Continuous Improvement & Design Thinking
Apply design thinking methodologies to problem framing, ideation, and validation. Use feedback, metrics, and insights to continuously improve product outcomes. Contribute to agile and product management best practices across teams. Support Amgen’s ongoing Agile and digital transformation initiatives
Basic Qualifications and Experience
Doctorate Degree OR Master’s degree with 4–6 years of experience in Product Management, Product Development, IT, or related field.
Bachelor’s degree with 7–12 years of experience in Product Management, Product Development, IT, or related field
Diploma with 10–12 years of relevant experience
Must-Have Skills
5+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Development, or Product Delivery roles
Strong experience managing stakeholders and complex requirements across multiple teams
Proven ability to write high-quality product artifacts (PRDs, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, solution documents)
Demonstrated ability to think through solutions end-to-end and articulate them clearly
Hands-on experience applying design thinking and user-centered design approaches
Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working in regulated or validated environments (FDA, EMA, GxP preferred)
Jira and Agile tooling experience
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Good-to-Have Skills
Experience in data, analytics, or platform-based products
Workshop and design session facilitation experience
Exposure to life sciences, R&D, or Precision Medicine domains
SAFe or Agile product certifications
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager
SAFe Agilist
Agile or Product Management certifications (CSPO, PSPO, PMI-ACP, etc.)
Design Thinking certification

Work Hours
This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as required.
Potential Shifts (subject to change based on business requirements):
Second Shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm IST
