Senior Business Analyst

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to lead functional design and product delivery across NextEnergy Group’s Technology & Digital Services (TDS) portfolio. This role combines hands-on analysis with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and managing junior Business Analysts.

You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and design teams to ensure requirements are captured, validated, and translated into robust technical solutions. You will also drive best practices in analysis, documentation, and delivery, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and business objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage and mentor junior Business Analysts, providing guidance on requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder engagement
  • Establish and enforce BA standards, templates, and best practices across projects
  • Support resource planning and workload allocation within the BA team.

Requirements & Functional Design

  • Lead complex requirements elicitation sessions with senior stakeholders
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, process flows, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Ensure functional designs accommodate integrations, data flows, and security requirements.

Product Delivery & Governance

  • Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to prioritize backlog items and ensure timely delivery
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and provide clarity on requirements and dependencies
  • Oversee quality assurance of BA deliverables and support UAT phases.

Technical & Data Focus

  • Work with data engineering teams to define data requirements, mappings, and transformation rules
  • Ensure functional designs align with API-first and event-driven architecture principles
  • Support integration with cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake) and analytics tools (e.g., ThoughtSpot).

Risk & Compliance

  • Partner with compliance and security teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and governance standards
  • Identify and mitigate functional risks early in the design process

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Expertise in functional design, process mapping, and documentation
  • Familiarity with data platforms, APIs, and integration patterns
  • Excellent communication skills—able to influence senior stakeholders and translate technical concepts
  • Proficiency in agile delivery practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps)

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Prior experience as a Business Analyst in a technology-driven environment
  • Hands-on experience with functional design for complex systems and integrations
  • Exposure to data platforms and analytics tools is advantageous
  • Experience working in regulated industries (energy, finance, utilities, or similar)
  • The right to work in the UK.
