Senior Business Analyst - Strategic Transactions (12‑month MTC)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our Corporate Development & Strategic Initiatives team, supporting a high‑profile, business‑critical programme.
We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
About the role
As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll be working alongside Project and Programme leads. You’ll partner with stakeholders across quant, actuarial, finance, product, risk, development and technology (internal teams and strategic partners) to gather requirements and define business solutions. You’ll identify issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and assess broader business impacts.
You take a proactive, self‑driven approach to problem‑solving and requirements analysis. Responsibilities include (but aren’t limited to):
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather, document and analyse business and technical requirements.
Facilitating workshops and working with key business, risk and technology stakeholders to align on outcomes.
Working with offshore technology partners to support delivery workstreams and business outcomes.
Data analysis: Analyse and interpret complex data sets to identify trends, patterns and insights; conduct gap analysis.
Process mapping: Document and analyse current business processes; identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
Clear documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive, easy‑to‑understand documentation, including requirements and process artefacts.
Governance and compliance: Help ensure appropriate controls for material transactions and support reporting obligations.
Reporting: Support board reporting and presentations to internal boards, committees, and regulators as required.
Skills and experience
You’ll have a strong background as a Senior Business Analyst, or demonstrable BA experience with potential to progress, from within a financial services environment. You thrive in dynamic settings, embracing change and ambiguity while keeping stakeholders aligned.
As well as:
Strong experience in requirement gathering and translating business needs into IT‑ready specifications.
Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills - you listen, include and build trust. You can present ideas effectively to groups and senior stakeholders.
Hands‑on experience running workshops and bringing people together to clarify requirements and agree solutions.
Adaptable and resilient in a fast‑paced environment, able to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities with confidence.
Familiarity with BA tools and methodologies.
Project management experience is a plus.
Highly desirable
Experience with reinsurance, annuities or retirement products is desirable but not essential.
