POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Business Advisor, BDC Advisory Services supports Canadian entrepreneurs by leading high‑impact advisory mandates focused on operations management. The role combines deep operational leadership with strong strategic judgment to help clients clarify priorities, improve execution discipline, and make informed decisions about people, process, technology and automation investments that enable growth.
The incumbent leads complex, customized mandates, oversees end‑to‑end project delivery, acts as a trusted advisor to senior management, and contributes to the evolution and promotion of BDC Advisory Services’ operations and technology-enabled performance offering.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Lead strategic‑driven operations mandates
Lead advisory engagements that help clients strengthen operational performance in support of their overall business strategy, growth objectives, and profitability goals.
Translate strategic intent into actionable operating models, governance structures, performance targets, and execution roadmaps.
Support management teams in addressing core operational challenges such as capacity constraints, cost structure, execution risk, scalability, and operational visibility.
Enable technology and automation decisions
Help clients assess how digital tools, automation, and operational technologies can improve execution, decision‑making, and resilience.
Support technology‑enabled transformation initiatives by clarifying business requirements, evaluating options, defining implementation roadmaps, and ensuring alignment with business priorities.
Act as a bridge between business leadership and technical specialists, ensuring technology investments are pragmatic, value‑driven, and well governed.
Ensure delivery excellence and senior‑level oversight
Manage the full lifecycle of advisory mandates, including scope definition, planning, execution oversight, quality assurance, and delivery of outcomes.
Coordinate internal teams and external specialists as required, ensuring consistency, accountability, and high professional standards.
Provide objective challenge, structure, and guidance to client leadership teams throughout the engagement.
Act as senior subject matter expert and trusted advisor
Serve as a senior reference within BDC Advisory Services for operations strategy, execution excellence, and technology‑enabled performance improvement.
Stay current on market trends related to business strategy, operations management, digital operations, and automation to inform client recommendations and internal capability development.
Contribute to the development of tools, frameworks, and approaches that strengthen the Advisory Services offering.
Support business development and practice growth
Provide sales support through client diagnostics, opportunity framing, and contribution to customized proposals.
Work closely with Client Partners to identify opportunities, shape mandates, and generate follow‑on engagements.
Participate in outreach and thought leadership activities that position BDC Advisory Services as a trusted partner in operations and performance transformation.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience and background
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, industrial engineering or operations management; an MBA or related professional designation is preferred.
Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in senior operational leadership roles, management consulting, or a combination of both.
Demonstrated ability to advise executive and founder-led audiences on complex business and operational decisions.
Experience leading multi‑stakeholder initiatives that combine strategy, operations, and technology considerations.
Experience in value-engineering, professional B2B sales and/or public speaking
PMP, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (MBB) certification or similar credentials
Minimum of 10 years in a consulting firm, with experience in operations optimization.
