SUMMARY

The Senior BP&A Analyst position supports the MPLX Refining Logistics (RL) business unit, consolidating and analyzing enterprise data from multiple sources to deliver actionable insights on business performance and identify opportunities for strategic and operational improvement. This role partners with operational leaders, managers, and staff, as well as teams across Controller, BP&A, and Business Development, to improve forecasting accuracy, and ultimately, optimize the long-term financial performance of the business.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops advanced financial models to monitor, analyze, and forecast KPIs and business drivers for the MPLX Refining Logistics business unit that generates over $1.5 B in annual revenue.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains dynamic performance dashboards for leadership and key stakeholders to make data-driven business decisions through clear, actionable, and visually compelling insights.
  • Leads the coordination, development and presentation of divisional business plans, forecasts, and results, partnering closely with MPC refinery BP&A contacts to ensure alignment with refinery maintenance and project schedules
  • Collaborates and interfaces with Refining/Commercial/Business Unit divisional leadership and participates in meetings to discuss and strategize longer-term analytical needs to support ongoing improvement.
  • Proactively seeks and implements enhancements to processes, systems, and automation, increasing efficiency and enabling deeper financial analysis and commentary.
  • Lead special projects related to area of expertise, including development of economic models for future growth capital projects, and other ad-hoc initiatives.
  • Serves as the primary financial liaison to MPLX Refining Logistics operations, addressing inquiries and facilitating accounting activities to ensure financial reporting accuracy and compliance

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required.
  • Minimum 6 years in business or financial analysis required.
  • Travel Requirement (<5%)
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Power BI and SAP/BW is preferred
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionality, including Accounting, BP&A, and Refining
  • Familiarity with refining operations is preferred.
