To be successful as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, you will need a background in bioinformatics with a particular focus on analytical problem solving, data visualization and good communication skills. A consummate scientific background in at least two of Genomics, Statistics, Next Generation Sequencing, and/or High-Performance Computing will be key to your success. This role may be performed in the US remote.
The Role
The Senior Bioinformatics Scientist will drive the development of innovative genomics solutions used to support oncology treatment decisions using panels/amplicon sequencing. The primary functions of this position will be to design and conduct data analysis of development studies to demonstrate that our assays and algorithms meet performance requirements across different platforms, support assay development, and testing software implementations.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with our experimental assay, systems integration, and bioinformatics teams, design and analyze experiments to support existing or new Illumina oncology assays.
- Perform validation and verification for clinical genomic products
- Provide technical guidance to internal and external collaborators.
- Participate in cross functional assay and algorithm R&D teams
- Effectively communicate plans and results across functions
Requirements:
- PhD in bioinformatics, computation biology, statistics, math or related field Experience with common bioinformatics methods, and NGS data analysis
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in Linux for bioinformatics software development and data processing
- Familiarity in programming languages such as Python or R
- Good communication skills to contribute to cross functional project teams and work with stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
- Experience in oncology products as well as with NGS assay teams is considered advantageous.

The estimated base salary range for the Senior Bioinformatics Scientist role based in the United States of America is: $129,400 - $194,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
