Role Description:

The Senior Behavioral Health Specialist (SBHS) will immediately become an important contributor to the Oak Street Health (OSH) team. The SBHS will play a key role in the development and growth of Oak Street’s Behavioral Health Program.  In addition to clinical care responsibilities, the SBHS will serve as the Behavioral Health Program leader for center Behavioral Health Specialists (BHS) for the assigned coverage area. As this leader for the Behavioral Health Specialist role, in collaboration with other OSH leaders, the SBHS will support the Behavioral Health Program strategy and lead the implementation of OSH's Behavioral Health Specialist role definition, training, clinical quality, and job satisfaction. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership to a nationwide cohort of BHSs to guide the delivery of exceptional Collaborative Care, growth of patient panels, and strong clinical outcomes.

  • Identify improvement opportunities for Behavioral Health Specialists; Develop plans to address them, and represent the solutions to leadership teams.   Assure the implementation of approved solutions in partnership with other leaders and stakeholders.  

  • Guide the continued evolution of Oak Street Health’s collaborative practice model in partnership with other position leaders within the Behavioral Health Program Team.

  • Onboarding and training for new BHSs. Senior BHS will maintain a plan for training behavioral health providers in the skills and competencies necessary to perform as a BHS. Training will be accomplished through a directed reading of the practice manual, didactic instruction, a demonstration by the Senior BHS, and direct observation and feedback of the BHS trainee by the Senior BHS. 

    • Displaying proficiency in this role and executing job responsibilities in a safe and consistent manner

    • Create a welcoming and engaging environment to meet the needs of new Oaky BHSs

    • Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal skills through adaptable communication techniques and eagerness for collaboration 

    • Provide competent Collaborative Care education by demonstrating sound clinical knowledge and clinical excellence

    • Developing skills and competencies needed to be an effective SBHS by attending required training and skill development sessions.

    • Help a new Oaky BHS put into practice what they have learned in onboarding and assess readiness to perform independently in role

    • Support remediation and performance coaching for Oaky BHSs

  • Peer consultation to experienced BHSs. Senior BHS will be available to provide consultation to BHSs, as needed. This consultation may include discussion of complex cases, ethical issues, development of new services, or other topics related to the provision of BHS services. 

  • Participation in Cohort meeting. Senior BHS will create a monthly clinical consultation meeting held either in person or by video conference for their cohort of BHSs to discuss patient cases. 

  • Conduct weekly cadence meetings with BHS providers in the region in which they are the Senior BHS. 

  • Collaborate with regional leadership include Vice President, Medical Directors, Lead Medical Social Worker, Population Health Director, and Divisional Lead Behavioral Health Specialist. 

  • Advocate for BH program integration within clinics.  Support BH providers to work towards achieving their program metric. 

  • See patients 4 days/week

  • Other duties as assigned

This role reports to the Senior Medical Director.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for motivated, experienced social workers with:

  • Clinical license in the field of Mental Health required (LCSW, LCPC, LMTF)

  • Minimum 5 years post-Clinical experience in a Behavioral Health setting

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in the duties, responsibilities, and skills as a Behavioral Health Specialist in a primary care setting

  • US work authorization

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$60,522.00 - $129,615.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
