Job Summary

Join us as a Senior Automation Engineer and take the lead in designing, deploying, and optimizing automation solutions across our manufacturing network. In this role, you’ll champion advanced technologies, collaborate with global engineering partners, and drive high-impact automation projects from concept to execution. Beyond improving throughput and reducing downtime, you’ll influence automation strategy, evaluate ROI, and build strong business cases for future investments.

Let's Talk About the Role:

Automation Strategy & Deployment

  • Lead the development, integration, and deployment of automation solutions for manufacturing equipment, processes, and assembly systems.

  • Work closely with the Global Automation Centre of Excellence (COE), principal engineers, and site teams to identify automation opportunities and standardize successful solutions across multiple sites.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and system integrators to bring cutting-edge automation technologies into the production environment.

Technical Execution

  • Design and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, and industrial automation systems to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.

  • Oversee system integration, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation equipment delivered by suppliers.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, industry standards, and internal quality protocols.

  • Prepare and maintain all documentation including schematics, logic flow, design concepts, and SOPs.

Continuous Improvement & Data Analytics

  • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation.

  • Recommend and implement improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and smart manufacturing principles.

Business Case & Project Financials

  • Develop and manage budgets for automation projects, including cost estimates, resource planning, and financial reporting.

  • Conduct ROI and cost-benefit analysis for proposed automation initiatives.

  • Prepare and present compelling business cases to secure stakeholder buy-in and project funding.

  • Support the replication of successful automation solutions across global sites to drive standardization.

Stakeholder & Supplier Collaboration

  • Engage and manage external suppliers, system integrators, and technology partners to deliver high-quality automation solutions.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, maintenance, and global automation teams to ensure alignment and effective project execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related discipline.

  • 6–8+ years of automation experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years in a leadership or senior technical role.

  • Strong expertise in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Keyence), robotics integration (Fanuc, UR), machine vision, and safety systems.

  • Hands-on experience with SCADA, industrial networks, and automation troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for design and conceptual system modeling.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Proven ability to develop automation business cases and manage project budgets.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Preferred Certifications

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

  • TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (or equivalent safety certification)
