Senior Attorney, Long Term Care Insurance

YOUR ROLE
You will provide advice, counsel, and subject-matter expertise to the CareScout and Genworth family of long-term care (LTC) insurance businesses. You will help support a wide variety of matters, such as representing the business on the implementation of new insurance products, the administration of the largest existing block of LTC insurance policies in the country, operational and infrastructure initiatives, interpretations of contracts and law, consumer inquiries and complaints, and regulatory engagements. Additionally, you will advise on long-term care insurance advertisements, training materials, and customer content to help the business ensure that its communications are simple, effective, and clear. You will report to the LTC Legal Director and serve as an integral member of the team responsible for helping the business achieve its goals while complying with applicable laws and regulations.
What you will be doing
- Supporting the implementation of new products, such as reviewing new forms, communication templates, and processes
- Providing subject-matter expertise in support of the administration of in-force policies, including operational risk mitigation, advancing business initiatives, reviewing and interpreting insurance contracts and applicable laws, and assisting with customer inquiries
- Advising on compliance with applicable requirements, such as the NAIC LTC Model Act and Regulation, the NAIC Unfair Trade Practices Act, federal and state antitrust rules, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act
- Providing advice and counsel on the impact of new laws and regulations
- Identifying legal and regulatory risks and developing risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategies
- Leading relationships with internal client groups, and driving your participation in key initiatives, consistent with business strategy and business and legal leadership
- Representing the company’s interest in interactions with insurance and other state and federal regulators
- Working with multi-functional teams, including Compliance, Sourcing, Risk, IT Security, Corporate Insurance, Tax, business owners, and others
- Leveraging business relationships, legal contacts, and technological resources to deliver superior legal support
What you bring
Required
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- Three to six years of experience at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department of a U.S. company
- Experienced in insurance legal matters or similar experience in a comparable highly regulated industry

- Adept at providing legal advice with a solution-oriented focus on achieving business priorities and goals
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate succinctly and effectively
- Strong knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment and issues
