What You Will Achieve 

Join our multidisciplinary drug product analytics team as a Senior Associate Scientist, where you will play a pivotal role in forensic analysis and materials characterization. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience with a wide array of experimental techniques, including various forms of microscopy (optical, electron, x-ray), spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR, Raman), sample isolation, particle and foreign material characterization, and controlled substance handling.

Beyond technical training, you will develop expertise in scientific literature review, interdisciplinary communication (both oral and written), and collaborative decision-making under time constraints. As a recognized technical expert, you will contribute significantly to diverse programs and projects spanning drug substance crystallization, drug product formulation, and manufacturing. How You Will Achieve It 

  • Collaborate closely with senior scientists to learn, established workflows, best practices, effective documentation methods for investigations.

  • Work alongside subject matter experts to expand technical and scientific knowledge in areas such as, particle sizing and characterization, crystal form stability, amorphous solid dispersion formulation, dissolution assessments.

  • Contribute to the characterization of innovative drug products in a dynamic environment that supports professional growth.


Basic Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Chemistry (especially Forensic and Analytical), Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Sciences, with 3+ years of experience (industrial or academic) in forensic analysis and materials characterization; OR a master's degree with more than 0+ years of experience.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including visualization of data, presentations, and authoring technical reports

  • Demonstrated ability to meet timelines and interact with multidisciplinary teams 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and solve complex analytical problems 

  • Proficient with a wide variety of software and information systems

  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with optical microscopies such as polarized, inverted, and confocal

  • Exposure to specialty microscopies such as atomic, x-ray, or electron is appreciated.

  • Demonstrated knowledge or hands-on experience with at least one spectroscopic characterization technique, including but not limited to FTIR, NIR, Raman, or mass spectroscopy

  • Comfortable with solid and liquid sample handling

  • Familiarity with particle isolation, refractive index measurements, or other analytical techniques

  • Awareness of controlled substance handling, safety, and relevant regulations is a plus. Willingness to learn and adhere to these practices is critical.

  • Having general understanding of formal documentation practices and observation recording

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Performing experiments in the lab using small- and large-scale equipment, lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform data analysis. 

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Some travel may be required. Ability to adhere to safe work practices and procedures.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $66,500.00 to $110,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
