Senior Associate - Model Validation

RSM's Financial Services Risk Consulting Group is currently seeking a strong resource to join our fast growing Risk Consulting practice at the Senior Associate level. This position will lead and deliver model validations, tuning and optimization engagements and other consulting services for financial institution clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Work individually or as part of a team to execute model validation activities and testing against common models used at financial institutions (e.g. BSA/AML and OFAC, transaction monitoring, asset liability, credit losses) including assessing risks related to model design, data, output, and governance.
• Demonstrate expertise in model validation and subject matter and laws and regulations applicable to model types (e.g. BSA/AML, asset liability, ACL, etc.) as well have some experience and understanding of how to apply requirements in financial service environment
• Identify risks, assess mitigating controls, and make recommendations on improving the control environment
• Participate in the development and maintenance of testing documentation, procedures and tools to automate and standardize validation processes
• Contribute to strong client relationships through positive client support and sound expertise
• Participate in ongoing training programs to maintain and grow knowledge in model validation and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics or related field
• The individual must possess strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring that they meet internal and external deadlines.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools
• Familiarity with common models used in the industry (Actimize, Fiserv FCRM, Oracle FCC, Bridger, Fircosoft or Verafin, Abrigo, systems)
• Minimum 2 years of model validation and/or model risk management experience in financial institutions or in a consulting role

Preferred Qualifications

• CAMS, CFE, ACFCS, CPA, CIA certifications
• Experience working with or for the FRB, OCC, FDIC, NYDFS or other regulatory agency Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in SQL coding and/or use of data analytics and visualization tools such as R Studio, Alteryx, Python and Tableau
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
• Strong project management skills including demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing and completing workloads to meet deadlines and work objectives.
• Creative problem-solving abilities and ability to interpret information and regulatory requirements in order to advise clients on compliance issues by implementing sound solutions.
