Senior Associate, Client Asset Protection

What is the opportunity?

We have an exciting opportunity based in our London or Edinburgh team as a Client Asset Protection Senior Associate on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will work alongside the Client Asset Protection Team as a direct report to the Assistant Director. This individual will deputise where required for the Assistant Director to support the oversight of CASS Compliance across RBC Europe.

RBC’s expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

What will you do?

  • Facilitate the annual external CASS audits for all impacted entities and be the main point of contact for auditors.
  • Oversee the CASS breach process, perform CASS breach trend analysis, and present CASS breach MI to the Client Asset Protection Committee and other fora as required.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide reporting on CASS KRIs.
  • Assist with the oversight of core CASS processes (e.g. custody reconciliations, shortfalls, collateral monitoring) and where required escalate CASS breaches/issues.
  • Oversee the operation of key FSCS depositor protection processes and controls, including the production and review of SCV files.
  • Oversee internal and live FSCS tests, including the management of data quality issues and questionnaire responses.
  • Represent the Client Asset Protection Team in projects and change programmes.
  • Participate in relevant CASS and depositor protection industry fora and maintain up to date knowledge around the interpretation and development of CASS and depositor protection rules.
  • Work closely with and cooperate with Senior Management, and other relevant stakeholders. Stakeholders to include, but not limited to: Compliance, Finance, Legal, Operations, Operational Risk.
  • Attendance and participation in any RBC committees as required or delegated.
  • Develop process enhancements to reduce risk and enhance efficiency using data analytics tools and internal AI tools, where appropriate.   

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Strong Commercial, stakeholder and supplier management experience at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in a Risk, Compliance, Legal or Operations Function.
  • Direct experience of CASS and depositor protection requirements.
  • Experience of using data analytics tools to enhance processes and controls.  
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver against challenging deadlines.
