Monks is seeking an Art Director to join a client asset production team. This is a hands-on art direction role focused on shaping visual outcomes, enforcing creative governance, and ensuring brand consistency across high-volume, AI-enabled asset production. The Art Director will partner with Governance, Operations, AI and production leads to translate briefs into production-ready visual direction and quality-approved deliverables.

The Lowdown

  • Deliver clear visual direction and approval for master and adapted assets to ensure brand integrity and creative excellence across global markets.
  • Define and maintain master visual systems: contribute to toolkits, templates, style guides, and QA checkpoints used in automated/adaptive pipelines.
  • Provide art direction for agentic (AI) and hybrid productions: craft visual briefs, review AI-generated concepts and storyboards, and validate final outputs for compliance with brand and production standards.
  • Work with Governance and Operations to triage briefs and translate them into production-ready creative direction.
  • Collaborate closely with Creative Technologist and AI Solutions Director to ensure templates, guardrails and asset components are aligned to production and agent studio requirements.
  • Support change enablement by producing creative playbooks and contributing to feedback loops for AI/automation adoption.

Scope:

  • Operates within the Governance & Creative Leadership team; reports to senior creative leadership and collaborates with AI, production, account and localization teams.
  • Works within an AI-first, agentic production model; assesses when traditional production is required and documents rationale.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of digital design/art direction experience with demonstrable work in brand campaigns, systems, or high-volume adaptation workflows.
  • Strong craft: composition, typography, motion basics and visual storytelling; Figma required.
  • Practical experience or understanding of AI-enabled creative processes and agentic workflows; ability to evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Experience contributing to creative systems, templates and style/toolkits at scale.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to translate strategy into clear visual direction for production and technical teams.
