We are looking for a Senior Applied Data Scientist to join our Tesco Category and Product Insight Data Science team. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with Tesco’s food categories, creating high-quality data science solutions that support and enable them to deliver their strategies. Expect to apply advanced machine learning techniques across all the food categories, tailoring your approach to the different customer behaviours. You will be able to communicate your findings to a wide range of audiences and will have the ability to quickly pick-up and learn new data science techniques.

What we expect from you

  • Ability to lead and deliver complex data science and analytical projects end-to-end.
  • Skill in translating client briefs into actionable data science approaches.
  • Proven experience applying a range of data science techniques to solve real-world business problems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python; experience with PySpark is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience working with large-scale transactional datasets (millions of rows).
  • A fast learner with the ability to adopt new data science techniques quickly.
  • Confidence in presenting insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Biology, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the UK retail or consumer goods industry is a bonus.
