Better’s adjacent business, Better Settlement Services, is responsible for obtaining and reviewing all property-related documents associated with the loan transaction for participating borrowers. This includes the valuation, title, homeowner’s insurance, and homeowner’s association in a condominium. We are developing industry-leading technology to modernize these collateral processes, increase team member productivity, originate high-quality loans, and provide the best experience possible for our customers. You will become an expert on Agency, Non-Conforming, and HELOC policy guidelines and be exposed to other aspects of the loan origination process including sales, processing, underwriting, closing/funding, and capital markets. Responsibilities

Members of the Better Settlement Services Team review team will be responsible for the following:
·       Obtaining required documents from title companies, settlement agents, attorneys, municipalities, Realtors, and customers as needed to ensure clear title.
·       Review required documentation to ensure compliance with investor title guidelines. This may include title reports, tax certificates, closing protection letters, wiring instructions, attorney opinion letters, surveys, etc.
·       Proficiently and independently perform title review for purchase, refinance, and home equity transactions with little oversight or support from team leads and/or managers.
·       Communicate clearly and concisely with third parties to seek needed clarification or resolve inquiries related to clouds on title.
·       Balance high productivity with high quality.
·       Serve as escalation point and subject matter expert for teammates in coordination, underwriting, and post-closing

Qualifications

·       2+ years title and/or closing and settlement experience required
·       Strong understanding of title guidelines and/or closing and settlement procedures.
·       Must be fully proficient with assessment of liens, judgments, property taxes, special assessments, surveys, mortgage deeds, etc.
·       Exercises good judgment and comfortable operating with ambiguous guidelines. Must be able to balance loan quality/risk management with speed, productivity, and customer experience.
·       Ability to multitask and prioritize competing priorities with tight deadlines
·       Initiative to suggest ideas for process and technology improvements
·       Problem solving and critical thinking skills
·       Effective verbal and written communication/presentation skills in English
·       Proficiency in analyzing documents and meticulous attention to detail
