About the role

AGL’s Data and Valuation team have a newly created opportunity for a Senior Analyst, Portfolio Valuation.

Based in Melbourne, this role sits between portfolio valuation, daily P&L, position data, and data strategy delivery. The team is responsible for producing accurate daily valuation outcomes, owning and modernising the data flows that underpin them, including the daily position used for portfolio valuation.

You will play a key role in transitioning legacy, manual processes into a scalable, systemised, and well-governed position data and valuation framework, while working closely with Trading, Analytics, Technology, and broader Finance teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Own and manage the daily portfolio position used for valuation and P&L.

  • Ensure position data is accurate, complete and trusted across downstream users.

  • Resolve data discrepancies in partnership with Trading, Analytics and Technology.

  • Design and deliver accurate daily valuation and P&L, including movement attribution.

  • Support the design and uplift of valuation methodologies and automated processes.

  • Contribute to building scalable data pipelines and future state valuation frameworks.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate business processes into data solutions.

  • Experience in portfolio valuation, daily P&L, trading risk or financial analytics.

  • Understanding of commodity markets, financial instruments or trading systems.

  • Proficiency with large datasets and tools such as SQL or Python.

  • Experience improving legacy processes and contributing to systemisation or automation.

  • Tertiary qualifications in finance, engineering, economics, mathematics, data science or similar.
