Job Description:
The Senior Business Architecture Analyst – Payments is responsible for shaping and maintaining the end-to-end payments business architecture to support strategic, regulatory, and modernization initiatives. This role collaborates with Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams to translate payments strategy into actionable requirements and architecture artifacts, ensuring solutions are aligned, scalable, and compliant.
We are seeking a senior business architecture analyst to:
Work in close partnership with our strategy team, delivery, and internal businesses to translate the business strategy into pragmatic designs feeding into or aligned to the target operating model for Payments.
Define and maintain end-to-end payments business architecture including value streams, capabilities, and customer journeys.
Perform broad research and analysis leading to translating business strategies into capabilities and key areas of focus.
Support building the target state while addressing gaps and pain points identified.
Identify and model current-state capabilities and pain points across product, operations, risk, and technology teams.
Liaise with internal & external partners to build the business case and define the rollout plan for capability or operating model development and success metrics while handling related issues within the portfolio.
Identify operational efficiencies and enhancements to optimize process and standards.
Assess regulatory, risk, and compliance impacts across payment flows and recommend controls.
Contribute to the discovery and development of new products and solutions ensuring successful executions.
Support the change & adoption process, by researching impacts of an initiative on an individual business, the needs/ requirements/ priorities, and options
Take ownership of assigned tasks; provide regular status updates, escalate key issues appropriately, and propose solutions and remediation plans.
Engage cross-functional partners (Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Technology) to ensure alignment and governance.
Assess emerging market trends (open banking, ISO 20022, embedded payments, fraud controls) and translate into business impacts.
Manage the ongoing sustainment model for the capabilities, tools, templates owned.
Promote an awareness of the strategy enablement/business architecture role to establish strong relationships to meet our objective.
Strengthen and enable the adoption of practice through collaboration.
Technical Competencies:
Create business architecture artifacts such as capability maps, process models, and value stream diagrams.
Align business capabilities with target-state payment systems, integrations, and ISO 20022 data structures.
Map integrations between upstream systems (digital channels etc.) and downstream systems (GL, AML, fraud engines).
Support system and data analysis for payment routing, clearing, settlement, and exception handling.
Collaborate with technology teams to ensure solution designs meet business intent.
Provide documentation, business rules, and support for testing and implementation.
Job Requirements:
5–8 years of experience in financial services with a focus on payments or transaction banking.
Comfortable to operate in an ambiguous environment while maintaining a strategic mindset to drive results to meet our vision and mandates.
Good understanding of end-to-end payment lifecycles, payment rails, and operating models.
Familiarity with industry initiatives such as ISO 20022, open banking, real-time payments, and fraud controls.
Strong sense of accountability and self-motivation to work and perform in an unstructured and intellectually demanding environment
Understanding of the BIAN, Business Architecture, and Agile practices and methodologies
Min. 5 years with solid experience in MS Office suite of application, particularly PowerPoint and excel and project management tools (Confluence, Jira etc.).
Banking or financial institution experience is advantageous
Ability to influence and negotiate with partners to reach a desired outcome.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to cope with changing priorities.
