Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management

products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers. IB&M purpose is to combine global connectivity and capability to build a better Australia.

IB&M Finance supports the business in providing financial control, financial analysis and insight, product control, regulatory accounting and related project and strategy implementation support.

Commercial and Institutional Transaction Banking (CITB) is a newly established function within IB&M with an ambitious strategy to be the leading corporate and institutional transaction bank in Australia and New Zealand. The function includes Transaction Banking distribution and specialists, Delivery & Performance Chapter, Digital Customer Crew and CommbankIQ.

Do work that matters

As Analyst supporting the Senior Manager CITB finance you will play a key role in providing high quality financial analysis, data-driven insights and performance reporting for the CITB business. You will leverage advanced analytical tools and strong communication skills to interpret complex data, link business performance to external drivers, and support decision-making in the business. Your focus on continuous improvement and flexible delivery will help drive operational excellence in a collaborative high-performing culture.

Your day could look like but not limited to:

  • Extract, interpret and synthesise data to provide actionable insights for the CITB business.
  • Apply accounting, profitability and balance sheet knowledge to support financial analysis and reporting. Prior experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Conduct trend analysis and link business performance to external drivers, supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Present complex drivers in a clear, concise manner, simplifying messages for a range of stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives while supporting a strong financial control environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in delivery to meet evolving business needs.
  • Take ownership of tasks from end to end, ensuring high quality execution and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and build stakeholder relationships across the business.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills.

We’re interested in hearing from people who value

  • Analytical and data analysis experience, in particular SQL, Alteryx or other BI analytical tools.
  • Experience creating and enhancing financial models and management reporting
  • BI or Tableau experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management
  • Strong numeracy and financial modelling skills
  • Knowledge of impact of external factors on banking and the business
