What you'll be doing

The Enterprise Advanced Analytics and AI team is the center of AI excellence within CIBC, leading the way in applying best practices in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. We leverage the latest technology and platforms to advance our capabilities. Our team collaborates with leading academic institutes in AI and machine learning to promote the exchange of ideas and enrich our talent pool. Our work spans the entire research life cycle, from partnering with academia to building production systems. As a Senior AI Scientist, you will use your expertise in advanced modeling to develop innovative solutions that enhance our customer-centric experience across omni-channels. You will collaborate with Client Experience, Segments, Marketing, Channels, and Technology teams, working with structured and unstructured datasets to deliver end-to-end solutions from experimentation to deployment.

How you’ll succeed  

  • Develop & Deploy ML/AI Solutions – Follow model development lifecycle to build and productionize ML/AI solutions for client experience applications, leveraging machine learning, natural language processing, LLM and SLM or TFM.  
  • Model Monitoring & Performance Optimization – Implement frameworks for continuous monitoring, performance evaluation, and automated retraining of ML models in production.
  • Maintain Intellectual Curiosity and Continuous Improvement - Conduct self-directed research to enhance the AI/ML techniques and approaches. Collaborate with data experts to understand data and engineer relevant features. Work effectively with fellow AI scientists, Applied AI Researchers and Engineers to deploy the solution.
  • Utilize Cloud & Big Data Platform - Utilize cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, Medallia) and big data tools (Databricks, Spark) for development and deployment.
  • Be A Trusted Partner -  Work collaboratively with Client Experience team to assess problem statement, understand opportunities and pain points. Act as an advisor and subject matter expert in the area of AI/ML and be able to translate technical solutions into business impact and inform decision making.  
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Maintain clear, comprehensive  documentation of model artifacts, ML pipeline, and processes to comply with CIBC’s Enterprise AI Framework & its associated policies and standards; Offer technical thought leadership to junior members.

Who you are

  • You have 5+ years’ hands-on experience in machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), and/or modern AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face transformers). You can demonstrate experience in using scalable cloud-based tools (e.g. Databricks), version control and collaboration tools (e.g. Git, JIRA) and containerization tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes). Proficient in writing SQL/ Spark scripts, developing robust and efficient modular Python code in a non-notebook environment, creating APIs, and working with Git version control tools.
  • You have a degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related advanced analytics field
  • You are a problem solver. You possess solid problem solving skills and solid judgement to provide input and advice to senior management. You have attention to details and can apply critical thinking to inform decision making.
