Senior Actuary, Capital Oversight

Lloyd’s are recruiting for Senior Actuary, Capital Oversight this role is a senior actuarial position, demonstrating technical expertise and management of work areas within the Capital Oversight team.

Principal Accountabilities

Syndicate Capital Reviews

Manage a robust and risk-based process for MRC's review of syndicate capital models and resulting
capital submissions.

Design and ensure sufficient technical criteria, review frameworks and documentation are developed and followed as part of review processes.

Ensure processes are auditable and in line with the latest regulatory requirements

Design and provide relevant review tools (such as simplified models to run as sense checks) to assist in the reviews.

Undertake autonomous and technically detailed review of syndicate models.

Provide training and oversight of analyst model reviews.

Syndicate Deep Dives

Manage the detailed review of syndicate’s internal model, against the Capital Principle of
the Principles of Doing Business at Lloyd’s.

Communications

Interact with external stakeholders, including managing agent capital and management
teams and regulators, on processes and areas arising as part of capital oversight.

Manage update of guidance to be provided to the market on syndicate capital
requirements and processes.

Update the Senior Manager, Syndicate Capital on issues and developments in the review
process.

Provide internal training on the required process and technical requirements.

Present conclusions and recommendations to Lloyd's Capital Planning Group (CPG) on
capital developments and adequacy.

Liaise with internal teams as required as part of capital review or other oversight activity,
including Syndicate Capability, Exposure Management and Performance Management to
ensure consistent and co-ordinated approaches.

Wider actuarial team involvement

Assume project leads responsibilities, managing these projects to successful delivery

As required, manage work areas within the wider actuarial team including those in relation
to the Lloyd’s Internal Model.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

Experience in non-life insurance work, preferably across a range of work areas (in particular capital modelling).

Experience in delivering complex work output, including supervising work, and communicating this to an audience.

Knowledge of the actuarial techniques involved in non-life insurance.

Knowledge of various IT tools including Excel, Access, Microsoft Applications including SharePoint.

Knowledge of / interest in programmatic approaches, including the use of VBA, R and capital modelling tools.

Qualified actuary with Capital experience.

Demonstrate the ability to undertake and direct detailed technical analysis with minimal guidance on the required outputs. Designs and implements analytical approaches to address specific questions and suggests solutions to any practical barriers to the completion of analysis, drawing on experience from related work areas.

Maintains a positive approach and remains adaptable in the face of ambiguity, responding effectively to issues as they arise.

Provides assurance and recognition to other team members, supporting a culture of cooperation and mutual respect.

Constructively challenges approaches to tasks, ensuring that suggestions and feedback are grounded in objective reasoning.
